I’ve been a bit off my game for the last couple of weeks so for the men that worked with me on this day, I apologize for getting this out so late.
PAX: Gisele, LePew, Devitto, Dauber, HolyRoller-R, Backflop, Pelican, BigBird-Q
I lost my mother-in-law suddenly on Monday the 8th. I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from my F3 brothers and several of you reached out to me asking if I needed my Thursday’s Q picked up. I decided it would be good for me to get out, work hard and be distracted, if only for 45 minutes, and lead a group of men. Thank you to the 7 men that made it out with me on this frigid, icy and snowy morning. I needed it more than you know.
I don’t know if you’re aware or not but there’s a place out in Oldham County where you can find an F3 workout on a Thursday called the Boondocks. I’m still not sure who’s a Boondockian(?) or not at this point but I was told that of our 8 in attendance, 4 were from that AO in attempt to nab the Ghost Flag. I thought it strange at first that there were any boondocks boozeleggers at The County on a Thursday when there was Thursday Moonshiner workout. I thought maybe they just wanted to get out for support or to see what Bird had cooked up. Maybe it was an Iron Horse thing? Nope. I would find out that they had orchestrated a run for the Ghost Flag and came up one shy. Welp, the Hoochers can make some great Shine but counting may not be their strong suit…
Due to the dicey conditions, we would do a ginger mosey to the portico and do some of our ground work there. COP: SSH, Grass Grabbers, Abe Vagodas, Plank Jacks, Mountain Climbers, Cobra Stretch and Reverse Flutter Kicks (a great LePew addition).
Next, we would do a round of Tabata with a track perfect for my white lightning Leggers. We would do 4 rounds of Hover Shoulder Taps and 4 rounds of Peter Parker Merkins.
The Thang: Box Jumps & Burpees- 1 & 1, 2 & 2, 3 & 3 etc., until we got to 10. Mosey around the school and chapel. Same thing but Derkins and Jump Squats- run a lap. We got done quicker than expected so I had to add something else on the “fly.” Backflop, being the beast that he is finished first and looked to me for what was next. I looked at him in the eyes and said, “when you come back, 1dip, 5 calf raises, 2 dips, 5 calf raises, so on and so forth.” I think Backflop was like a puppy dog wanting to get out that puppy energy like, “can I run now, can I run now?” Cuz when he got back something got lost in translation and everyone thought we were to do 1 dip, 5 calf raises, 2 dips 10 calf raises, etc. That would have equated to over 300 calf raises. I didn’t realize this until halfway through and told everyone my intentions but most were well into it now and would just get after it with the extra credit.
Last, for the fun: Jump, Jive an Wail. SSH for the duration of the song and drop for Merkins on the chorus.
Time was called and we would mosey to the flags for COT, COR & NOR. Made some announcements and said some intentions. Prayed for Joey from Warrior Alabama. Prayed for my mother-in-law’s soul and for the Sky Q to welcome her into heaven. She was a light in this world and people were made better just by being around her. That’s the goal for all of us, right? Be a light to those that are in the darkness? I will follow your example Juju! I love you and will miss you greatly!
