The Q this morning was inspired by a prior workout I led at the Mutt about 15 months ago. It was preCOVID (seems so long ago) where I did a “what happened on this date.” You would learn some history and have a workout that related to it.
When I arrived to setup, there were several pickup trucks already there. I feel like that may be part of being a true Boondockian. The ghost flag was up for grabs but I didn’t know how many PAX to expect. With training for the mini, many of my recent Qs had been run heavy but with the race being Sunday, this was more like a heavy workout.
There were 14 PAX who participated: Holy Roller (R), Big Bird, Cochran, Bulletin (R), Verbal, Fungi, Boss Hog (R), DeVitto, LePew, Focker, Flex Seal, Yankovich (R), Backflop and Meter Maid (Q).
When I gave my disclaimer, I don’t know how many heard as everyone was busy mumblechattering. It felt more like the Mutt than the Boondocks. I did mention if you expecting “4/20” references, you still have time to make the County for Pelican’s Q. He’s probably the best Q in the region or at least the most fun.
YHC led a simple COP after a “quick and slow” mosey to the end of the road and back. I can’t see why the PAX was confused-lol. We did Mountain Climbers IC, Grass Grabbers IC, Toy Soldiers IC, Copperhead Squats IC and Michael Phelps your own.
On April 20, 1912, the Red Sox played their first game in Fenway Park. We did 10 Nolan Ryan’s on each side. I was glad that Fungi was here. The only thing better would have been Gisele coming given his love of Boston area teams. Speaking of Gisele, he is going to crush the mini on a Friday.
On April 20, 1916, the Cubs played their first game at Wrigley Field. We did 19 hand movements and 16 merkins to a far cone and back. I don’t think it helped foster any love for the Cubs.
On April 20,1967, Tom Seaver won his game. We took our coupon on a rifle carry to the cones and back.
Oh Jimmy, they did not like your history! On April 20, 1979 a swamp rabbit attacked President Jimmy Carter. This resulted in murder bunnies to the cone and back.
On April 20, 1986, Michael Jordan scored 63 points in a playoff game. We did 63 Bobby Hurleys.
On April 20, 1988, my Baltimore Orioles started 0-14 on their way to record losing start at 0-21. Not even Iron Man Cal Ripken Jr could stem the losing tide. We did 14 manmakers (I bet that Holy Roller did more of them; heck he can do 25 manmakers in one minute.)
On April 20, 1990, Pete Rose pled guilty to hiding $300k in income. We did work with a partner to accumulate a combined 300 of bent over rows and calf raises.
On April 20, 1996, the Chicago Bulls won their record 72nd game of the season. We did 72 overhead press on your own.
On April 20, 2020, three states announced an end to COVID restrictions (GA, TN, and SC). For this one we did around two sets of COVID (C= curls 20, O= big O 20, V = V Ups, I = Incline Merkins 20, and D= Derkins or Decline Merkins 20.). We would have done three sets but I wanted to compete the history lesson.
On April 20, 2020, it was also the first time the US markets went negative on crude oil. Yes, this means they paid companies to take their oil. We did Bernie Saunders to the cone and back twice.
We went back toward the flag and did 43 Flutter Kicks IC as time expired.
We circled up around the flag. We did COR and NOR. For announcements, YHC will be celebrating his 3 years of posting with a Q on 4/29 at the Boondocks. Convergence is this Saturday at the Garden. Make sure to RSVP on Slack. The first BO at LaGrange by the Courthouse will be this Friday. There were no intentions mentioned. I raised up our silent intentions, said a short prayer and colored with an Our Father.
