November Ruck Back Blast

Situation

  • F3 Louisville hosted a November ruck event on November 11, 2023, Veterans Day, to honor the men and women who served in our military.
  • Located at Veterans Park in Jeffersontown, the event began at 6:00 a.m. and ended by 8:00 a.m.

Mission

  • F3 Louisville partnered with Chad 1000X for the hero workout “CHAD” – in honor of Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson who took his life on October 29, 2018, due to the effects of numerous deployments, several TBIs, blast wave injuries, and PTSD. Our goal was to honor Chad’s life and legacy and to raise awareness for suicide prevention. PAX were encouraged to purchase a patch for this event, and all proceeds went to support veteran mental health initiatives through the Step Up Foundation.
  • At the same time, F3 Louisville at large received the call to donate to a local church in order to purchase Christmas stockings and goods for foster youth in the Louisville area. Our donations exceeded our goal.

Execution

  • Started the event recognizing our veterans in attendance and completed a 10-minute warm up.  The opening event concluded with an explanation of our task, purpose, and desired outcome for the event.
  • PAX donated for the patch and for the foster youth prior to the event.
  • At the event, 34 PAX showed up to Veterans Park to complete the Chad 1000X:  1,000 step-ups with weight or with no weight.  Individuals self-selected themselves into groups to complete the workout.  Everyone completed the step ups in under one hour and 45 minutes.
  • Following this event, PAX gathered sandbags and rucked a loop around Veterans Park.

Administration

  • The event concluded with Name-O-Rama and welcomed two friendly new guys (FNGs) to our community: Shea Butter and Go Fish.
  • School Zone brought Sugar ‘N Spice donuts and a few PAX enjoyed those.

Chain of Command

  • While on paper it shows Lambeau and Duckling as the co-Qs, the PAX embraced our “free to lead” mantra by leading the work and encouraging others to finish.
  • Mission accomplished.
