Backblast – The Loco @ The County 12/31/19

PAX: Alexa, Pelican, Jolly Rancher, Holy Roller, Wildflower, Asian Zing, Stormtrooper, Little Jerry, Jerry Maguire, Cratchit, Grizly, Crockpot, Double Down, Captain Crunchberry (QIC)

Weather: 37 degrees with a windchill of 28. According to my weather app, 16 MPH winds, but it felt like hurricane force winds when we started.

Disclaimer: I’m not a professional, I have received no formal training, anything I say is a suggestion, and you should modify as necessary. Aye?

We started with a mosey around to the back lot, by the coupon stash. While on the mosey I asked the PAX to find a partner to be their “mirror”. So find someone that has similar form as you. Not necessarily body type.

COP all 20 counts: SSH, Toy Soldiers, Slow Grass Grabbers, Michael Phelps, Arm Circles

To start the workout, the PAX partnered up.  Once we were partnered up, we broke into 5 different stations.  Each station had 2 exercises.  Complete 25 of each exercise. Where possible, exercises should be completed facing your “mirror”, and at the same pace.

Station 1: Dips & Box Jumps.

Station 2: Partner Clap Sit Ups & Booyah Merkins.

Station 3: Overhead Press & Squats (With coupons)

Station 4: American Hammers / Monkey Humpers

Station 5: Plank Jacks & Mirrored Lunges

Once all 5 stations are completed, a short run of about 100 yards from the playground to the end of the parking lot and back.  For this run the PAX Partners faced each other.  One running forward, one running backward.  Once they reached the end of the lot, reverse the rolls back to the starting point.

Rinse and Repeat all stations until time is called.

Finished off with some what I called a 3 count flutter kicks. We laid on the sidewalk, put your butt on the edge. 3 count up, 3 count down, both legs. I was aiming for 20, overshot the drop zone, and did 21.

Announcements – It’s New Years Eve.  Lots of crazy stuff happening, be safe, be smart. Get your sleeping bags in, if you have them.  Jitterbug announced he will be delivering them Monday. (January 6th)

Intentions – Keep BigBird in your thoughts and prayers. Help keep him motivated and engaged with the PAX. Join the pull up challenge. Also, keep Wildflower and his M in your prayers as they will soon switch from a man-to-man defense to a zone defense at home. Congrats Wildflower!

When I start a wienke I tend to start with a general theme, or message.  I design the workout around that thought.  Today it was reflecting.  2019 came to an end, now is a time to reflect on what you have accomplished.  You can’t change anything that happened, only make changes for the future.

I left the PAX with this nugget of wisdom: “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” Soren Kierkegaard

Naked Man Mole Skin: I under estimated how quickly we would go through this workout. In my head (which never got vocalized) I was hoping to be able to rinse and repeat for 2 cycles. If the PAX completed all 5 stations, between both members, they completed 2000 exercises. Add in the 20 flutter kicks, and there you have it, 2020. I think most groups were on their third cycle. So we performed a little better than I anticipated.

I’m always amazed at how this group of random guys from so many different walks of life can pull together and push one another without question.

Until next time.
