BB, Bayside, The Max, 8/1/23

With the OG Sadie on the injured reserve list with a back strain, it fell on me to take the lead on this fine, cool, 61 degree Shelby Co morning. I dreamt early in the night that I had fart-sacked – needless to say, I was not getting much deep REM sleep after that. I really didn’t have a strong weinke planned – just knew we would cover some ground and work hard.

13 HIMs joined me (Birdie and boys – Firing Pin & Slugger, Borland, Bugle Boy, Cattle Chips, Eye Booger, Friendly Fire, Little Foot, Mothball, Rollback, Ruby, Slide Rule) as I threw out the disclaimer and set off for a short mosey to the courtyard for COP. Normal stuff with some stretching (Bayside – THE hardest stretching AO in the region), and other in cadence norms. Since my plan was to cover some ground around our spacious campus, I was packing my cell phone. I reminded the PAX of the importance of someone always having one with them during the WO and recalled the tragic story of our fallen Knoxville brethen, Cardinal. We never know when our number might get called home.

School is starting back soon and I thought it would be good to do a survey of campus and see if any lights on the poles were out. I almost immediately found 1 and stopped to file a report. Since a non-functioning light is a bad thing, I asked Birdie what his least favorite F3 exercise (not a burpee as they are not allowed during my Q’s) and he chose BB’s. 20 it was. As we mosied again, it was soon discovered a bad light meant 20 of a least favorite. Each time we stopped, I asked a different HIM to take the lead. After finding 4 lights, we managed to get on a good roll with good lights. We would get 2 poles and stop, then ask for a favorite. Since they were good, we only did 10 reps. Bottom line, we covered the campus and found 6 bad lights. We did hit a couple of the bad lights twice, but did not count them in our report. Finished the tour with a short AYG back to the flag.

COP – I always attempt to have a theme and came into the gloom without one. As I was searching for BAD, I was overlooking the GOOD. How easy is it for us to focus on the bad and ignore the good? No one counted, including me, the good lights. Be that good light. Fix the bad light. Intentions around for various ailments and recoveries.

Blessings – Charolais
