We got a warmup in (SSH, Imp Walkers, HB Walkers, Grass Grabbers, downward dog) to the tune of “1985” by Bowling for Soup, which then kicked off the full playlist of hits released exclusively in the year 1985. “Careless Whisper” by George Michael hit during downward dog and really set the mood for the morning. There was a longing gaze into YNot’s eyes, that you have to be careful not to get lost in.

George Michael filled the gloomy air as we warmed up with a mosey around the neighboring church parking lot and back to coupons.

We grabbed coupons and headed to the large rear parking lot for Thang 1: “300: This Is…..The Stable!”

With Pax lined up on one end of the parking lot 4 rounds of exercises were laid out with another 3 rounds of exercises on the other end of the parking lot.

1. 25 Man Makers

Travel: rifle carry coupon to other end of parking lot

2. 50 Deadlift

Travel: stationary curl carry coupon to other end of parking lot

3. 50 Merkin

4. 50 Jump Squat

Travel: stationary curl carry coupon to other end of parking lot

5. 50 Floor wipers

Travel: rifle carry coupon to other end of parking lot

6. 50 Thrusters

Travel: stationary curl carry coupon to other end of parking lot

7. 25 WW3 BB’s

Mosey for the “6”. Once complete with the 300 reps, PAX mosey’d around the large lot while others finished

I called us all into a circle for Thang 2: Fire Drill:

It didn’t go well. I’m not blaming the workout. I would say this sounded good on paper but a few challenges. 1) this would be better on grass or sand instead of concrete. 2) 19 PAX is A LOT of fire drill rounds. 3) do it earlier in the workout. Guys were too gassed to keep getting up and down with much speed, if at all. I called an audible and scrapped Thang 2 after about 6 PAX.

Replacement Thang 2: Colt 45s:

While PAX were circled up, I stepped into the center and led the team through 45 Squats on my “Down!”. First 15 went from standing to halfway down. Hold for 10 seconds after 15. Second 15 were lower half squats. Hold for 10 seconds at the bottom after 30. Stand up and 15 full range squats to finish.

Thang 3: 2 rounds of Sprints
