BB The Agony at The County – 9 5 24

Was a beautiful dark morning in Pewee Valley. Holy Roller, the Q today, and 9 other PAX showed up for a 2 mile history tour of that little town where HR spent his growing up years. We started the warm up with a few burpees and then we were off. After a short mosey, HR let us know that his first office was in the Caboose while we did some Merkins. Moving on, we moseyed to the driveway on Old Forest Road where he lived, worked and played those years (no, not in the 1940s Klink) and we did some side straddle hops there. We ventured on down Old Forest to where the bus picked him up for school at Ash Avenue. At the bus stop we did some more exercises with a count between 24 and 51. Moving on, we ventured to a fork in the road at Elm and Tulip as HR told about how he had a job for the City, at 14, to install road weight limit signs. With a tractor and auger, he would drill a hole, hoping that he didn’t hit any utilities. We did some more exercises there, maybe about 36. On to the former Beard’s Grocery and Post Office building. He told stories of collecting bottles to trade for 10 cents and also about how the phrase “Get back on that horse” was born. He was riding his horse along LaGrange Road and the Railroad tracks, the horse was spooked and threw him off. Later learned that he had fractured his hip, and the only way to get back home was to “get back on that horse”. Did a bunch of Dips at the fountain there. Another mosey to Town Hall where he shared that his father was the mayor for 16 years, primarily that long because he couldn’t convince anyone else to run for mayor. Did some more exercises like a lot of burpees. Our last historic stop was to do Hand Release Merkins in front of the Pewee Valley Women’s Club. That is where HR’s mom hung out some and the ladies talked about men and made cookies. And then back to the flag for some 5 minutes of Mary. The HIMs – Abacus, Colonel Klink, Air Raid, One Star, Little Jerry, Double Down, Backflop, Boomer, and Wiche were all amazing. Everyone stayed together on that 2 miles that Holy Roller said he used to run to make weight for wrestling in High School. Lots of history – to be forgotten, but the message that we wrapped up was John 3:30. The take away is – make me less, God, and make You more in my life. Well done HIMs!
