14 pax (and one dog) gathered in Louisville, KY at the Big Four Walking Bridge this morning (Sept. 11, 2025) for a GoRuck Takeover sandbag training event.
The event kicked off promptly with a welcome announcement at 0530hrs ET.
Attendees circled up and completed the following:
20x (Ruck on)
– pushups
– 4 count copperhead squats
– 4 count mountain climbers
– sandbag curls
20x (Ruck off)
– 4 count flutter kicks
– 2 count one arm alternating ruck swings
– 4 count hello dolly’s
Next we shuffled down toward the Ohio River where we tackled 3 x 100m down-and-back sandbag suitcase carries and overhead rifle carries.
From there we ascended a set of 4 concrete terraces, performing step-ups (10 each leg) on each level before advancing to the next.
After that we completed 15 sandbag curls and a 30m out-and-back back bear crawl.
Then another 15 sandbag curls and a 30m out-and-back lunge walk.
A diverse range of fitness levels were represented, but all pax stuck together as a group and modified as needed.
As we reached the 30 minute mark, we proceeded to ruck 1.5 miles up and over the Big Four Walking Bridge across the Ohio River toward Indiana and back.
We returned in time for the 0630 endex.
A few words were spoken in remembrance of 9/11. Specifically about the firefighters and first responders we lost that day (and those taken from us in the ensuing GWOT) Patches were distributed. Feedback from participants indicated satisfaction with the morning’s events. Pax were advised to keep an eye out for announcements regarding more GR Takeover events in the future.
All in all, it was a successful mission.
