I love me some County Boys! We have a solid, core group of guys that just keeps getting bigger, we travel and we are always there for each other. When I Q away from my home AO, I never campaign to get guys out. Especially on a Saturday. You see, I am the Site Q for The Nest on Saturdays and I always like to be there to support the Q for the day. And this Saturday, my boy Valdez had the Q so I definitely wasn’t trying to recruit guys away from that HIM & The Nest. But somehow, I had 7 of Dem County Boys come to Posh and show me some love. We had a FNG that Abacus brought out (Fructose), and he said he was surprised how Abacus would reach out to guys and they just show up! But again, we are always there for each other. That’s why I have been regularly finding myself out 5 to 6 days a week. Who’s the Q and where? I got to go support them!
This would be the anniversary of my first Q when I was still a “Poshie.” For one who seems to have memory problems, it was easy for me to remember cuz it fell on Derby Day. Even more of a reason it was special to me. Guys could have chosen to stay at home and rest up and sleep in with their families. Nope! Let’s come out! Let’s get better! There would be 17 of us in all.
PAX: Drysdale, Fructose(FNG), Bulletin(R), Kimble, Presto(2.0), Bob Ross, Lady Bird(R), Gypsy, Iceman(R), Cochran, LePew, Wapner, Abacus, Alexa, Mr. Kotter, Uncle Rico, BigBird(Q)
…And We’re Off!
COP: SSH 15 IC, Abe Vagodas 15IC, Grass Grabbers 10IC, Pigeon Stretch, Bat Wings 5IC each direction.
Next we would do a slaughter start in memory of Riley Howell, the 21 year old UNC Charlotte student that lost his life this past Tuesday, charging at a gunman who was attempting to open fire on a class of 30 students. Had he not chosen that path, who know how many would’ve lost their lives. I thought it important that we reflect on his heroism and let that carry us through our workout. We would get after it with 21 burpees.
Tabata: BigBird lunges
Mosey about 100 yards. We would then work on some AOlympics training. All out for the 400m to the other end of the Bridge. Recover and then All Out for 100m to the fountain.
Recover
Count off in 3’s. 1’s-crabwalk down the incline to the bottom of the fountain and then mountain climbers back up. When they got back, they would relieve group 3 who were doing box jumps. Group 2 was doing dips. We would rotate once more so that each group would spend time at each station.
Recover
Mosey to the other side of the Bridge. All Out from there to the playground.
Once there, we would do benchmark Cindy. It was an AMRAP of 5 pull ups, 10 merkins and 15 squats. Some had good mumble chatter throughout. Some just put their heads down and worked hard. We all got better.
Circled up for Mary. Had PAX, one by one say their ABC’s while we held plank. Next, I had Iceman call out an exercise. I like to learn at least one new thing a day. My lesson would come early on this Saturday morning. Never have Iceman pick a Mary exercise! He called out Flutter Kicks and we would do 50IC! Next, Gypsy would call out an exercise and it’s one that we were all hoping to see but of course not seeing each other doing. Pickle Pounders 16IC.
NOR: Welcomed FNG Fructose to the group. Well done brother. You worked hard and pushed through!
Announcements: A-Olympics coming up on the 18th. Registrations to be in by 5/8. County is raising money for an F3 sponsorship at the July Summer Picnic at St. Aloysius. $250 is our target.
Intentions: Continued prayers for Valdez’s brother. Everyone’s safety for Derby day. Prayers for Slider as he may not be able to get into the Air Force.
YHC is always humbled to see guys show out especially on a Saturday. Asked that we all look for opportunities to step up and be a hero, no matter how large or small the situation. Asked that we all go out to be better men to those around us.
Closed with an Our Father
Until next time,
BigBird
