I’m not gonna lie, I love The Garden and it’s quickly starting to feel like home to me. There are so many options to choose from during a Q and that makes things exciting. That said, I wanted to use the staircase on the backend of the school in addition to The Hill of Stolen Soles and the vast parking lot in the front of the school.
With this being a big vacation week and our friends from The County putting up two workouts on the same day, I wasn’t sure what kind of turnout we would get. We ended with 11 PAX and 1 racoon so a pretty good crowd in all.
Here is who came out:
Frosted Tips
Domino
Nino
Mr. Kotter
Fructose
Uncle Rico
Huggies
Airball
Milton
Husky
Catfish(Q)
We started out with a quick mosey up the front hill and circled up in the parking lot. Standard Catfish Warm-up:
25 x SSH – IC
15 x Grass Grabbers – IC
Downward Dog Stretch
25 x Mountain Climbers – IC
25 x Plank Jacks – IC
25 x Single Count Merkins – IC
Kendra Newmans
Thang 1:
Partner up:
P1 75 yard sprint/Bernie halfway back/Sprint back to P2
P2 start chiseling through 100 Merkins/100 Bobby Hurleys/50 Big Boys
Mosey down The Hill of Stolen Soles to the coupon area. Upon arriving, a racoon suddenly jumped out of the trash startling the PAX and keeping everyone on their toes.
We broke up in to one group of 5 and one group 6, retrieved a coupon and started on Thang 2:
Group 1: one team member would hard run up the staircase and complete 5 burpees at the top while the rest of the PAX performed an exercise called out by PAX in a rotating fashion.
Group 2: one team member would hard sprint up the 1st section of The Hill of Stolen Soles and complete 5 burpees while the PAX completed the same exercise as the team members in group 1.
The exercises were too many to list but we had an excellent mix of coupon work, Mary, burpees, etc. This actually worked out better than planned and allowed the PAX to cheer each other on and have a little mumblechatter despite being completely smoked.
Once we completed round one the groups swapped places and ran through the same routine.
Upon completing Thang 2, we circled up and knocked out a Merkin ladder:
10 single count Merkins followed by a 10 count plank, 9 single count Merkins followed by a 10 count plank, etc. down to 1 Merkin and 10 count plank.
We then returned the coupons and lined up at the first speed bump near the coupon area. This is at least 150 if not 200 yards from the flag so we had our work cut out for us. We bearcrawled to the first speed bump, sprinted to the 2nd and then bearcrawled to the flag.
Once we got back to the flag it was clear the PAX had received the beatdown they came for. This was a great group and everyone pushed hard. We circled up for intentions and announcements and ended with an Our Father.
Yesterday was great and I’m looking forward to the next I have the honor of leading the group. Thank you.
