8.10.19 End of Q School Week Back Blast-The Nest @ The County

I take this F3 Thang very seriously. Now, you might be saying to yourself, “yeah right Bird! If that’s the case, what takes you so long to get your Back Blasts out?” Well, I’ll give you a few reasons: 1) Your Bird suffers from writers block. 2) I think and reflect over several days about what went down and want to do it justice…just in case there is anyone out there that wants to take the time to read the “novels” I tend to write. 3) With work, kids, practices, obligations…Life…It’s difficult for me to find that hour of uninterrupted quiet time that it takes for me to finally hammer it out. All that said, it was Q school week and this one carried a bit more importance than the normal, “let’s see what punishment I can unleash on you” type of beatdown. Site Q’s were to lead a workout on their respective days and make sure to let the newest HIM that haven’t “been to school” know what F3 Nation is all about and why we do what we do. T-Claps to McAfee for being everywhere and doing tons of work to see to it that everyone played their part. As Saturday, Nest day approached, my excitement grew and my wienke was as strong as it’s been. I was ready! But per the norm, I was still nervous. Who would show up? I mean, Q School had been going on all week. Surely PAX that had been out several times already wouldn’t want to endure 60 more minutes of another site Q’s take on the instruction. But you know what? Every day that the Sky Q blesses me with an opportunity to lead, I get overwhelmed by the support. You see, more than anything, what you experience with this group is that we are all here for each other. I love you men! And this day, there would be 24 other dudes that would show up for class. Once more, YHC is humbled.

PAX: Dauber, Brick (FNG), Duffer, UHaul, WILDflower, Trekkie, The Bus, Kimble, Gisele, Abacus, Little Jerry (R), Fructose, Jolly Rancher, Meyer Maid, BlankMan, LePew, Selfie, Gilligan, Bulletin (R), Valdez, Cousin Eddie (FNG), CrockPot, Captain Crunchberry, Mama’s Boy, BigBird (QIC)

0600 BO Ruck @ The Nest for the 3 mile loop coordinated by Jolly Rancher. What a great way to start the day! We would finish up at about 0650 to see other PAX members slowly roll in.

0700 Full disclaimer given. YHC would briefly speak about what brought him out and what this movement has done for him.

Off for a Mosey to the front of the school that we call the Midway.

COP: Core principal #1 It’s Free! As we get into “The Pain,” It is explained what COP represents, why and how we introduce the exercises and conduct the cadence. Abe Vagodas 15 IC, Grass Grabbers 15 IC, Mtn Climbers 15 IC, 3 count Merkins, Runners Stretch into Pigeon each leg.

Mosey to the portico by the playground for a BigBird favorite….Tabata: This morning’s Tabata: Wall Sits. For me, a pretty amazing site to see as 25 dudes all lined up on the wall, working hard. But perhaps pretty strange to the completely random passerby walking her dog who would pose the question, “what are you all doing?” YHC’s response, “Something completely stupid and utterly pointless!” We would carry on with a laugh and some fantastic mumble chatter.

Core principal #2: workouts are open to all men.

Recover and walk the 20 yards to the playground for a 10 minute EMOM of 5 pull-ups, 10 Merkins and 15 Squats. Feeling smoked, we would get a couple of ten counts.

Core principal #3: workouts are always held outdoors. Rain or shine, heat or cold.

The Ladder: YHC explained to the group that a Q does his best to plan but sometimes even the wienke itself has to be modified. This would be the case today as I planned too much with not enough time. The ladder would be 5 Burpees, Mosey 80 yards and back, 5 Burpees, 10 Jump Lunges, Mosey down and back, 5 Burpees, 10 Jump Lunges, 15 Dips, Mosey down and back and then go back down the ladder.

Core principal #4: The workouts are led by men who participate in the workouts in a rotating fashion with no training or certification necessary.

Mary: LBC 15 IC, Captain Crunchberry: Freddy Mercury 15 IC, BlankMan: LBC 15 IC, Fructose: Gas Pumps 15 IC, Dauber: Flutter Kicks 15 IC

We would end with The Graduation song, holding plank for the entirety with moments where YHC would call out side plank and wave to our friends and family.

We would Mosey back to the flags and circle up for Core Principal # 5 and a personal favorite: Workouts end with a Circle of Trust. NOR would include handing out a certificate of completion of Q school week to all PAX. We would welcome our newest PAX members 1) Brick, one of Dauber’s 2.0’s and 2) a longtime friend of LePew’s from Jersey, Cousin Eddie. A fantastic FNG Name O’ Rama by the group, most notably, Crockpot. Ask him about it. He’ll tell you. Coincidentally, there is actually a photo of Cousin Eddie dressed up as…Cousin Eddie…Unreal!!

We would make some announcements and send up some prayers to The Sky Q. Your QIC would send some love out to men for showing up to work with me on this day. I am a better man because of all of you!

Until next time…

BigBird
