At some point on Friday, Airplane and Alexa decided that a workout would be organized for Labor Day morning. Alexa being the HIM he is stepped up to grab it. Now it was just a matter of whether or not it would be the Iron PAX challenge or a regular workout. Consensus would be that a regular workout would suffice and those that wanted the Iron Pax would have another opportunity to get it in this week. Fast forward to Sunday afternoon. A bunch of us are at the pool trying to soak in the last bit of Summer. I wasn’t even sure if I would be posting the next day. It would be determined on how the rest of the day went. Well, the Sky Q had other plans. Alexa comes up to me and Amelia and says that his Dad has just been admitted to the hospital with chest pains. I’m sure there was a flurry of things swirling around in his head but what he was concerned with at that moment was having someone to pick up his Q at 0700 at the County. Amelia and I of course said that one of us would grab it. As though we were reading each other’s minds, we just decided to Q it together. To those reading, Alexa’s Dad had undergone testing today (Monday) and all is well. He is now safe and sound at home.
0655, pull into the lot and see a group of PAX already in attendance. In addition to that, I would happen upon Fungi, Cochran, Crockpot and Meter Maid. They had just completed this week’s Iron PAX challenge. Nice, men!! Meter Maid would even hang for the workout…after his workout! Woof!!
Total PAX in attendance: Jolly Rancher, Dauber, Fun Dip, Pelican, Prime Time, Jewel, Meter Maid, Back Flop, Cratchit, The GOAT, Amelia (Q), BigBird (Q)
Started with the disclaimer and off for a Mosey to the front of the campus.
COP: SSH, Kendra Newman’s, Abe Vagodas, x body mountain climbers, 3 count Merkins, runners stretch, plank jacks, pigeon stretch, quad stretch.
Mosey to the coupons for BigBird’s Thang: 20 minute EMOM: 10 curls, 10 push press, 10 tricep press. Strong work from the PAX. As we were 5 minutes in, we were all feeling gassed. But we worked hard, pushed each other and chopped away at that redwood until we reached the 20 minute mark. Returned coupons and tagged in Amelia.
Amelia would promise a leg day. And deliver he did! We would start with a Native American run around the campus and would end behind the chapel.
Amelia’s Thang: Lieutenant Dan-for those not familiar, that’s 1 jump lunge to 4 squats all the way to 10 and 40.
Amelia and I didn’t realize this but we are Birds of a Feather. We would each put together a workout that require all of us to push each other. It was special!
Mosey about 60 yards and Amelia had us doing a bunch of Monkey Humpers. As if our legs weren’t already smoked…
Following that, we would bear crawl for 30 yards and apple turnover for crabwalks for another 30 yards.
Mosey to the flags and circle up for 6 minutes of Mary. PAX would call out the workouts. LBC’s, Gas pumps, BBSU’s, SSH’s, Pickle Pounders.
Circle up once more for COT, COR and NOR. Made some announcements (two VQ’s at the County this week. Backflop at Peggy Baker Park on Tuesday and Dauber at The Nest on Saturday).
Said some intentions and thanked this group of men for making it out with me this morning. Gave a homework assignment: Have an Attitude of Gratitude and try to wake up each day this week and think about something you are thankful for.
Ended with an Our Father
Until next time…
