The PAX knew from the pre-blast that the workout this morning would be a celebration of the greatest rivalry in sports – Cats vs Cards. However, the focus was not on the battle that would take place later in the day on the hardwood. Instead, this morning beatdown was a celebration of the epic beatdown the Cats laid on the Cards a few short weeks ago on the gridiron. Here is how it went down…
18 PAX arrived wearing their blue or red (except @Asian Zing who wore the orangest shirt ever created): Pelican, Jewel, Fructose, Brown Water, Jolly Rancher, Captain Crunchberry, Alexa, Momma’s Boy, Red Ryder (2.0), Amelia, Leprechaun, Holy Roller (R), Asian Zing (R), Meter Maid, Rocky, Robin, Cratchit, Dauber (Q).
Homage was paid to the Cats and disclaimer was given. We moseyed to the COP which consisted of 32 SSH, Kendra Newmans, Michael Phelps, Grass Grabbers, and Runners stretch (Downward Dog). The smack talk started early, so we muffled the “bird chirping” with a modified Burpee Apocalypse starting with 9 burpees, then 8 burpees, then 7 burpees…until finishing with 1 burpee.
With the blue blood now pumping, we moseyed to the back lot which was marked off for the width of a football field ( 53 1⁄3 yards ) for the main thang – Four Quarters…
First Quarter: 13x Squats; Bernie Sanders up; 13x Big Boy Sit Ups; Run back down; 28x Jump Lunges (count each leg).
After each quarter ended, we gathered together AS A TEAM (both blue and red) to review some of the stats and highlights from that particular quarter of the UK vs UofL football game. With the PAX fully motivated by the stats, we ran a Half Gasser as a team…all you got up and all you got back for the width of the field.
Second Quarter: 2x through cycle…same reps; Half Gasser AS A TEAM. Third Quarter: 3x through cycle…same reps; Half Gasser AS A TEAM. Fourth Quarter: 4x through cycle…same reps; Then before the final Half Gasser we completed the following AS A TEAM…12 Squats; 14 Big Boy Sit Ups; 4 Jump Lunges; 1 Air Press
To celebrate the successful completion of all four quarters, we paired up with someone in the opposite color for a bear crawl chaser race, then finished off with a set of 7s AS A TEAM – Gas Pumps IC / Flutter Kicks IC.
Everyone was physically spent but mentally strong as we enjoyed a summary of the beatdown… (Warning: If you bleed blue, continue reading for the fun facts that made this a special beatdown celebration. If you are a Cards fan, you may want to skip on over to the #mumblechatter channel for some lighter fodder)

Special note that Lynn Bowden’s longest run of the game (60 yards) was only good for third best as Chris Rodriguez had a 64 yard run and Kavosiey Smoke had a 70 yard run)
