PAX – Little Jerry, LePew, Catfish, Abacus
Met 0600 at JMF main parking lot for a trip down the Silt Stone Trail. Anytime YHC is running there is bound to be a trip, as in fall. Today YHC found tree roots early and often in the dark gloom of 0dark30. At the 1.5 mile point, YHC tripped, fell forward, somehow flipped around backward landed butt down on an up hill slope and bounced right back up; just like it was supposed to happen. PAX kept rolling. Fortunately, this was the most frightening fall of the day for YHC.
LJ took a spill as well about 5 or 6 miles in. Leaves covered the trails leaving rocks and roots well hidden. LJ clipped a rock and crushed some leaves.
On the run we discussed the need for some 2nd F events beyond happy hour. Bluegrass Karting, Ax Throwing, some joint LJ was talking of, Renaissance Fun Park, etc. would be great places to get after it.
We talk about Shield Lock and Wet Stone / Blade relationships. Lots of good stuff. On one run months ago LePew and I talked about starting a running podcast…”Trail Talk”. Recording what was said on the trail (running or rucking) would be awesome. Think of all the wisdom you’ve heard and managed to forget along the course of a run or ruck? Bottle it up! Or at least record that stuff!
On the way back in, we picked up the pace. LePew smoked a hill and inspired YHC to pick up the pace as well. All hills on the backside were runners delight. Crazy people say, “if you want something you’ve never had before, you gotta do things you’ve never done before”…time to run the hills! Giddy Up!
As we were stretching, YHC noticed some mold in my water bottle…YUCK, but since I was thirsty, I sucked it down. LJ recounted his time in the Army and never cleaning his canteen. I’m sure there was tons of mold in that thing. Mold must make you tough!?! LJ also shared while in the Army he lived with the king of Samoa. The Army gave him a chicken and the King was able to remove eggs from the chicken and the King ate the eggs, raw.
Pro tip of the day, don’t clean your water bladder with bleach. Instead use Efferdent (https://www.efferdent.com/denture-care-products/overnight-plus-mint-antibacterial-denture-cleansers).
