Alright PAX, many of you may have heard but to those that haven’t, on 12.19.19 I got confirmation that my ACL had been torn (whilst attempting to play indoor soccer on 11.12, my 18 year old mind telling my 42 year old body that it’d be ok). In an effort to squeeze in a surgery for this insurance year(thanks again Airplane) the doc said, “how does December 23rd work for you?” There were several responses in my mind but the only one that I would vocalize would be, “whenever you can get me in doc!” So last Monday I would go under the knife and would come out of a successful ACL repair surgery. All good news! The bit ‘o bad: three months of tough recovery keeping me from joining you HIM ITG. Over the course of this last week I would endure mental and physical challenges leading me to the conclusion: I have to do something to keep myself accountable and “stay engaged.” So here it is:
The Challenge: 2020 pull-ups by EOD on March 31st. There are 91 days from January 1st until then. That equates to 22 pull ups a day plus another 18 that one can squeeze in somewhere. This is a U v U so if you want to do more, feel free but there is no prize for whoever gets the most.
The Reward: working on creating a patch for anyone that gets to 2020. But the real reward is the conquest. Knowing that through the journey you’ve made yourself better…stronger…more excited for future times where a Q has Pull Ups on their wienke.
The Form: the goal here is a “strict” pull up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRV5YKKaeVw&feature=share
Now, day 1 you may not be able to get them in strict. Just make sure you are doing them. The focus each time is on form. If one day you can only get 1, 2 or 3 in with proper form, that’s ok, just work on getting a bit better each day(after all that’s the reason we do what we do, right?).
Slack Channel: to join, add yourself to the Slack channel “2020 pull up challenge.” Feel free to use the channel to talk about success and challenges. Use it to help push each other. YHC will be using it as a type of blog, touching base daily. Make sure to message your weekly total by end of the day each Sunday.
I think I spit out the jumbled mess in my mind but feel free to message me if you have any questions about anything.
See you on the other side…
