Intro: 27 HIMs at Bag of Wrenches! Starchild said, “Remember when we’d get 25 out here in the early days and tell ourselves this might actually be something?” Yes, I do. The 27 HIMs at The O were part of 95 men in Louisville who got out and got better this morning! Yes, we certainly have something here. The large turnout made me smile. It also caused me to call a Peyton Manning style audible because my “plan” didn’t work for that number. I considered it a happy problem. After Wham! rolled in at 0529.14, here’s what we did….
COP
PAX warmed up and got the blood flowing by running over to Christian Academy. Once there, we circled up for:
- SSHs 20 IC
- Mountain Climbers 20 IC
- Copperhead Squats 20 IC
- Plank Jacks 20 IC
- SSHs 20 IC (double timed)
Thang 1
PAX Partnered up. P1 did 20 curb merkins while P2 AMRAPed Bobby Hurley’s. Switch, rinse & repeat for 3 rounds.
Thang 2
PAX then ran from LCA to the tennis courts. Split into 4 groups. 2 minute all you got work. Corner 1 for AMRAP lunges; Corner 2 for AMRAP squats; Corner 3 for AMRAP flutter kicks; Corner 4 for T-Merkins. (According to mumblechatter reports, the T Merkins on the cold tennis courts left an impression on certain members.) After two minutes, the groups ran to next corner for the next set. All groups completed all 4 sets.
Thang 3
PAX partnered up for my go-to Ace & Gary Big Boy / Plank set. P1 does 15 big boy set ups while P2 holds P1’s feet in plank position. 3 full sets.
After that, PAX circled up for a heckuva finish. I don’t know what to call this, but here it is:

Somewhere between 5 Merkins and Recover Captain Insane-o strangled a duck. That duck would not stop squirming. It died with both the treble and the bass turned up. It was also during this set that I told the PAX the Merkins were “on your own, but follow my count.” I’m an idiot. I also didn’t have a watch, which I think is like rule 1 for a Q. OJ did his level best to stop himself from just taking over. Either way, it seemed to work.
COT
PAX circled up at the flag for NOR, announcements, and intentions. We welcomed FNG Gate Keeper. That’s a name with some levels to it. Obviously, if he HLs someone, that guy will have to be named Key Master. I hope it’s someone he knows well.
Also, a car drove by slowly and snapped a picture of us. We made assumptions that we know who this was or might have been.
