Back-Blast Tuesday 02/04/2020 – Inaugural Planetarium workout @ The Boondocks with Dauber

If you could not tell from reading the pre-blast, I was seriously pumped up to Q the first official Planetarium workout at the Boondocks.  If you have not been to the Boondocks yet, you gotta make it a goal to hit it soon.  Bulletin has built this up with steady progress and consistent leadership. It is a huge testament to his leadership that the numbers stayed consistent even while he took a short break to donate a kidney!!!  Also, the stars are just brighter at the Boondocks than at any other AO and there is always a great vibe (and weird stuff) during the beatdown.

Ok, so with all the excitement, I donned my Boondocks garb and headed out extra early this morning. I drove back to the concession stand area to setup, but since the entirety of my setup was hanging up a poster board I had some extra time to think, and came up with a couple of last minute changes to the wenkie that the PAX ended up loving.  As I arrived back at the front lot at 0530, 10 other PAX were waiting for YHC. I tipped my Boondocks hat in honor of the inaugural Planetarium workout and we set out on a mosey. Disclaimer was given and confirmed while in route since I was a bit scatterbrained trying to figure out how to adjust the wienke for 11 total PAX.

PAX:  Pelican;  Cochran (w/ stash); Le Pew; Brown Water; Gisele; Bulletin (R); Meter Maid; Flip Flop; Cratchit; WILDflower;  Fear Factor;   Dauber (Q)

We stopped about 200 yards down the parking lot. The spot was completely dark just like almost every spot in the Boondocks. Unfortunately with the rain and clouds, all the stars were out of sight and it was really dark…but temps were mid-50s in February so I ain’t complainin’. COP started here with 20x SSH IC, followed by Kendra Newmans and Michael Phelps.  I hiked up my Boondocks Jorts and we moseyed a bit further to finish our warm up with 10x Grass Grabbers, Downward Dog / Runners Stretch, 15x Mountain Climbers IC, and 10x Groiners IC.

I still had not figured out exactly how to run the workout when we arrived at the concession stand with 11 PAX.  Then, Fear Factor literally appears out of nowhere from the Boondocks darkness.  Someone said he arrived late and caught up to us on the mosey…I know he appeared magically (weird stuff at the Boondocks).  Anyway, at this point we had 12 and my Boondocks flannel was soaked from the rain so we paired up for Thang 1 – Boondocks BLIMPS.  This is just like a normal BLIMPS with a bit of Boondocks Crazy mixed in…Burpees 20xLap around the baseball fieldLunges 40x (count each leg)Wheelbarrow race down to the dugout and back.  Dauber and Fear Factor won easily due to an incredible start (it was almost like the other teams did not realize the race had begun)Imperial Walkers 60x (count each leg)Lap around the baseball fieldMerkins 80xEach group of 2 PAX completed an alternating 10 reps of a new Boondocks-inspired exercise -> “Squeal Like a Pig”.  It will henceforth never be done nor spoken of again.Plank Jacks 100x (single count)Lap around the baseball fieldSquats 120x

After the BLIMPS, the PAX were a bit fatigued but physically strong.  More concerning to YHC was the emotional scarring from “Squeal Like a Pig” so we quickly moved on to Thang 2 – Boondocks 4-Man Weave…Split into groups of 4
At the far station (past cones) – PAX #1 doing AMRAP Big Boy Sit Ups until tagged by a partner
At the near station (concession stand), PAX #2 doing AMRAP Flutter Kicks until tagged by a partner
PAX #3 Running between far and near station.
PAX #4 Bear Crawling between far and near station.
When tagged out of AMRAP exercise by a partner, you take over whichever travel they were doing (run or bear crawl)
This actually went much smoother than I anticipated so we added in some extra time in the 4-man weave with AMRAP Dips, AMRAP LBCs, Running and Lunge Walking.
Time was getting tight and suppressed memories of “Squeal Like a Pig” started to resurface, so we moseyed back to the front lot for quick round of MARY:  30x Flutter Kicks IC, 1 minute Plank…Done.

We circled up at the Boondocks flag for count-arama and name-arama (Boondocks weirdness disallowed video), and announcements were made (Poker Ruck on the 15th!).  We then came together for COT with intentions and some brief words of thanks to the PAX from YHC, and finally a Hail Mary.  We broke the COT, but then gathered under the pavilion for a brief celebration of the official Boondocks AO kickoff.  Commemorative Woodford Reserve bottles were distributed but the only full size bottle went to Bulletin, who not only was the driving force for planting the Boondocks flag but inspires The County, The Boondocks and F3 Louisville with his quiet and humble leadership.  Bulletin threw a curveball back at YHC by passing along the County mini-shovel…I am honored and humbled.  – Dauber
