What can I say, sometimes life throws you curve-balls. Tuesday did not go as planned for myself, and I had forgotten entirely about my Q for 02.12.2020. Kilo kindly reminded me to see if I needed help, so I knew I would have at least 1 Pax there if I could not get my preblast out. He informed me Red Roof was checking in, so I thought great that makes at least 2. I will come up with a workout, or dust off a favorite and bring it back to the gloom. After our soccer team recorded its first W of the season a mere 6 hours ago, I thought it would be a good morning to keep moving. I call this workout the Tomb Raider.
At 5:30, I surveyed the Pax. Good strong HIMs, Vincent, Malito, Drysdale, and PK. No show for Kilo and Red Roof (scared of the bearpit?). Time to start the workout. Informed the PAX that I was not a professional. Everything is a suggestion, and the goal of today’s workout was to keep your heart rate up and keep moving.
Mosey towards the Jeffersonian, and performed High Knees, Mario’s Carioca, and Butt-Kickers on the way there and back. As we got back to the seal we squared up for some COP. 20 SSHs, 20 Merkins, 20 SSHs, 20 Imperial Walkers, 20 SSHs, 20 Copperhead Squats, 20 SSHs, 10 Abe Vigodas, 10 Grass Grabbers, 20 SSHs.
Next thang was the Tomb Raider. If you haven’t been to the Memorial . . . Why the hell not? It is a great place to workout, and nothing but good can come from it. So get out and join us in the gloom. The memorial is arranged a mural toward the north end of a circular island. There is a large concrete slab near the memorial that we call the Tomb. If you enter the memorial area from the road on the south-side, you will pass through the neck go around the seal, up the stairs to the Tomb. Partner 1 performs an exercise at the Tomb while partner 2 proceeds away from the tomb, to perform an exercise through the neck, and run around the memorial island. Re-enter through the neck performing the same exercise and relieve the partner at the tomb.
Round #1 Partner 1 Derkins at the Tomb, while Partner 2 Bear Crawls the Neck, relieve and switch
Round #2 Partner 1 Step-Up at the Tomb, while Partner 2 Lunge Walks the Neck, relieve and switch
Round #3 Partner 1 Dips at the Tomb, while Partner 2 Crab Walks the Neck, relieve and switch
Round #4 Partner 1 Box Jumps at the Tomb, while Partner 2 Broad Jumps the Neck, relieve and switch
Round #5 Partner 1 Butt Touch Squats at the Tomb (make sure to get low, and not just bend over at the hips), while Partner 2 Bernie Sanders the Neck relieve and switch
Round #6 Partner 1 Incline Merkins at the Tomb, while Partner 2 Moseys the Neck and Sprints around the Memorial
Next thing were two staples that catch some groans. Probably going to change it up in a bit, but if you come to one my Q’s lately, you have done Captain Thor’s and Absolution. If you don’t know those, I am Q’ing again soon. See you there. Drysdale had to head out a bit early, and missed the Absolution, although he promised that he would pick it up for his homework. With 3 left, we triangled up for Name-o-rama, announcements, and COT.
It is always a pleasure to get out and put things into perspective to start your day. I had complained to one of the PAX about my Tuesday and that it just didn’t go the way that I had expected it. He replied that his day didn’t got the way he expected it either and it sounded worse and he did not sound like myself. He came out and we buried those excuses. Take solace in the challenges we face. What may seem like a mountain today, may only be a mole hill in your rear view, and be helping you prepare for the next challenge around the corner. It would be easy to say, things are to hard, or they just aren’t going your way. I am glad that this group pushes me and puts that mentality in my life to say, “I do not get up for easy”. I will work to better myself, my brothers and sisters, and the world. To be a light for others to see. It helps knowing that when I falter, and I will, that I have someone there to help me through. Looking forward to the next time. Thank you- PK.
