Valentine’s Day 2020 Back Blast

I don’t like Valentine’s Day.  I don’t dislike it either.  Truth is, I just don’t care.  If that’s your thing then by all means go out do your thing.  However Valentine’s Day is a great day to do some sort of themed workout.  I Q’d at the Mutt last year on Valentine’s Day and Glen Ross asked me if I wanted to do it again this year.  Complete with another love inspired playlist.  I spent more time on the playlist than I did on the wenkie.

We started with a quick mosie around the parking lot to get the blood moving on such a cold day.  We circled up for some COP which frankly didn’t go very smooth.  The mumblechatter was in full force and no one was really paying much attention.  It seemed to be a common theme throughout the morning.  I don’t really remember what we did because I got frustrated and just stopped.  We obviously needed to work.

With the love songs blaring we began to work

THANG 1: I borrowed this portion of the workout from one that McAfee used a couple of times at the time Mutt.  I may a few modifications to fit the day.  Before we got started and paired up I had the PAX run from one end of the parking lot to the other, do 10 merkins, 10 squats, and 10 plank jacks, then run back to the start.  I paired each one up with the first one back and the last as partners, the second one back and the next to last as partners and so on and so forth.  I set up 5 stations around the parking lot.  Each station had a total number of reps to be divided between the partners.

  • Station 1: 20 pickle pounders, 100 merkins, 100 squats, 100 plank jacks
  • Station 2: 20 pickle pounders, 80 merkins, 80 squats, 80 plank jacks
  • Station 3: 20 pickle pounders, 60 merkins, 60 squats, 60 plank jacks
  • Station 4: 20 pickle pounders, 40 merkins, 40 squats, 40 plank jacks
  • Station 5: 20 pickle pounders, 20 merkins, 20 squats, 20 plank jacks

THANG 2: Inchworm booyah merkins

THANG 3: Modified 11s: Each partner did Ace and Gary at one end of the parking lot starting with 10 reps each and ran to the other side of the parking lot for 1 leg throw each. Repeated doing 9 Ace and Gary and 2 leg throws and finished with 1 and 10.

Circled up for some COT and name-o-rama and I passed out a few valentines treats to those that came out to join me on such a cold morning.
