Ferb’s Dad here, Mannequin. This AM Ferb pulled out his VQ and it was a very proud moment for me to say the least.
He started at 5:30 with a crowd of 32 by walking into the middle of the circle and saying, “I’m Ferb, and this is my VQ.” I was impressed he actually walked into the middle of the circle because that can be intimidating for most grown men to do. He continued with the disclaimer, and some warmups:
SSH, Downward dog, (swag was impressed he did the order of it correctly, I was too). And then he got a count, and we headed over to the main this at “the circle behind the pavilion” for the main THANG.
His favorite workouts have always been Dora’s…so he put together a Dora of his favorite exercises.
100 flutter kicks
50 Durkins
100 Weighted Big Boys
100 Weighted Squats
100 Curls
200 Mountain Climbers
100 Flutter Kicks
Rinse & Repeat
With the travel around being around the paved circle.
Most guys made it though the workout 1.5 times and right at 6:05, Ferb shouted, no more running, finish what your on. And we did a Slowzy back to the flags for some Mary.
Ferb called on Holy Roller first and he did his infamous 10 count man makers, which was met with a large amount of groaning that continued into the 3 sets he did.. Big Bird knocked out some gas pumps, Xerox did some LBCs and Twister did one of my favorites, Nolan Ryan’s (watch the documentary on him if you haven’t, while new level of respect for the man).
Ferb got the count, Name-o-Rama, Annoucements, Intentions, and we brought it in for an Our Father at the end.
Furdays was certainly thinking in the moment because he captured the workout and out a short video together that made me drop a few tears.
I’m obviously proud of my boy. This is another testament to F3 and the community of men that meet here in this area. They have made Ferb feel like a million bucks, and he is drawn to be with them. I never force him out of bed, rarely push him at workouts, what he has been doing is a result of his choices. I know there’s many HIMs out there that have 2.0s and would love to see them out in the gloom more with them. I’ve lucked out with Ferb, and with the men at the Patriot. Together we have been able to create a positive brand in Ferbs brain with F3 that keeps drawing him out.
We are all excited to see what this 8 year old kid does, (or says, lol) next.
