12/04/2023 BackBlast Q School with PK (More than a Workout)

Q School started off at Posh with a group of 4 HIMs in the gloom. The weather was cool 37 degrees and no complaints were given. With the PAX that showed up, it was clear that this Q school was not going to be the beginner course. Here are a few quick stats of the PAX who attended PK’s Q school:

Lady Bird_First Workout Attended was 10/01/2018 and has Q’d 11 times (775)

Jitterbug_ First Workout Attended was 04/02/2018 and has Q’d 70 times (971)

PK_First Workout Attended was 10/02/2017 and has Q’d 53 times (673)

Bob Ross_First Workout Attended was 05/25/2017 and has Q’d 56 times (653)

The mumble chatter was strong for the HIMs in attendance, and we focused on why F3 is more than a workout.

Here is what we did. At 5:30, I welcomed the PAX, and issued the disclaimer. It is important to challenge yourself, but also important to listen to your body’s aches and pains. With the disclaimer given, I gave an outline of the thang that we were going to do today, so the PAX could plan accordingly. With that announced, it was time to Mosey towards the Egg Lawn. On the way there we did some dynamic warm-up exercises: high knees, butt kicks, Marios. Before entering the egg lawn we did a few more warm-up exercises and did the 101 portion of Q school, and talked about how to communicate to the PAX in leading an exercise (SSH’s, Abe Vigodas, Imperial Walkers).

The Thang was an F3 journeyman around the Egglawn. Complete one cycle around the Egg Lawn, stopping at the parking lots along the way and completing some F3 Louisville favorites named after strong leaders (Jack Webb, Lt. Dan, and Captain Thor). Each routine is done in a 1:4 ratio of two exercises increasing in count from 1:4 up to 10:40. Jack Webb is Merkins:Shoulder Press, Lt. Dan is Squat:Lunges, Captain Thor is Big Boy Sit-ups:American Hammers. By the time we made it back to the flag it there was a bit of time left and we planked to finish.

The workout was good, as we focused on a full body workout, Arms, Legs, and Core. The best part for me was the chatter. At each station we shared what brought us out in the first place, then what has kept us coming back out, and who we had brought out to the gloom. With over 3,000 workouts attended combined we remembered why F3 has been so important for us and why it is worth sharing. I remember what it was like before I started attending F3 workouts. I was the definition of a Sad Clown. Then during COVID, I slid back into my Sad Clown ways. It is easy to do. F3 has been a positive impact that keeps pulling me into the gloom, despite my covers best efforts to keep me in the fartsack. So thank you for holding me accountable, and look forward to hearing from me in the future. SYITG
