I can’t begin to tell you how proud I was this morning of all the of HIMs that participated. It was one of the coldest mornings I have experienced in a while. 1 degree above freezing with a constant downpour, it’s one of those mornings that chills you to the bones, yet there we were.
It made me think, why workout in the cold? It would be far more comfortable, logical, and easier to do what we did inside. To do what we always do, year round, inside. It’s certainly available. But to me, the rain or shine, always outside principle of F3 is one of my favorites. F3 training is training for life. By putting yourself into an environment that is uncomfortable, you are telling your body & mind, “We are going to do this, and it will be ok.” It mimics life experiences. Being good at being uncomfortable is muscle memory. You do it enough times, and it translates to the rest of your life. It translates to your marriage/relationships, to your eating habits, to your spiritual walk, to your job and any and all challenges you face.
Romans 8:37 is an often quoted verse, but I have see it deeper as my years have rolled on.
“No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” Rm 8:37 KJV
The word, ‘we are more than conquerors’ there in the greek is actually one word – hypernikao. It is the only time that greek word is used in the entire bible, and it is comprised of two root greek words, ‘hyper‘, meaning ‘more, beyond, over’. And the ‘nikao‘ which mean to conquer, or to carry off to victory or overcome. This is the word where NIKE get it’s name. To NIKE something, is to conquer it. But you put those two words together, and it means that we are ones who are basically SUPER- CONQUERORs! It would be enough just to be a conqueror, but scripture claims we are MORE than that, which is certainly hard to get my little brains around sometimes.
This morning, I saw the conqueror come out of every HIM there!
Kingsman pushed himself to failure on Thursters, Merkins and more! He also recanted all 20 items from the memory test, I can’t even…yeah.
Craigslist was like lightning on the shuttle run
Dauber & Big Bird came out on a rainy cold day from another AO to join us – it was amazing having them, and they set the bar!!!
Holy Roller did Holy Roller things, and after two downrange hard workouts, and flying back late, still showed up and pushed for a 500+ score!
Jazz Hands pushed harder today than I have ever seen him do, and I know he has set the bar high for himself for the next round.
And then there was AutoZone, who is 75 years old, and you can’t keep the man at home! Such an inspiration to see him there, and complete the shuttle run, the 800M run, and more.
Snaggletooth and Ferb held plank with Holy Roller for over 3:40 seconds, and could have all gone longer…such an amazing show.
The overall winner of who improved their score the most over last time will announced soon, you’ll want to be at that WO COT when we do. It’s going to be exciting to hand out that plaque!
The next Man in the Arena will take place in the beginning of April. Over the next 3 months, work on good technique, and push yourself, one more rep than last time! Exact Date and location TBA. Thank you for being you, and being more than a conqueror in all you do!
