5-31-24 backblast – The Baptizer @ The Garden

Hello boys! It has been a while since I have written a backblast so I am a little bit rusty. BigBird has been nudging me to get back out into the “backblast gloom” for a while and if you are able to ignore BigBird’s motivation, you are a stronger man than I! Let’s get after it…

I was pretty psyched up for the workout this morning…couldn’t wait to see the Garden Goons / OGs…so I made sure to have a plan that allowed for big numbers. Welp, things rarely go according to plan. Mom Suit informed me that most of the Garden was taking the summer off, so that explained the light turnout. However, Worm had my back and made sure I stayed motivated with his “pretty watered down milkshake Dauber” and “you planned this workout on your drive over here didn’t you” comments.

Fear not, we tackled the morning with a full force of 6 PAX – BigBird, Worm, and mom Suit already mentioned above, plus site Q extraordinaire Limp Bizkit, Mr Roper who made his illustrious return the gloom just last Saturday, and YHC.

After a brief mosey and COP, we grabbed coupons for the main thang. The workout was simple overall but it included a moderately confusing mathematical equation. To no one’s surprise, Worm understood it right away so we didn’t waste anytime (that is false of course…true that Worm understood it completely but false that no one was surprise. Actually, I was dumbfounded and probably stared blankly into the morning sky for 5 minutes trying to gather myself). But gather myself I did, and we got after it.

The workout was three stations with declining reps at each station from 30 down to 10 (tough math on one of the stations that we passed twice). Exercises were jump squats-curls-merkins, followed by hammers-skull crushers-merkins. Double merkins because Limp Bizkit has chest day yesterday and was begging for the burn.

stations were close to the flag, the coupon stash, and the dumpster, so we got plenty of hills and all said and done we ran over 3 miles before finishing perfectly at 0615:30.

Great morning in the gloom
