BB: 9/28/24 Nest @ County; Big Bird & Cochran Postbroversary Q

Anniversaries are important.  I don’t really age, so events like anniversaries are some of the only ways that I know how to track the passage of time.  As pledge brothers, Big Bird and I were thrilled to celebrate our seven-year-postbroversary™ with anyone looking for a great reason to get outside on the wettest weekend the state has seen all year.

Conditions:  Unscattered Showers

PAX:

Dauber

Little Jerry (R)

Meter Maid

Bookworm

Jolly Rancher

Captain Crunchberry

Double Pump

Brown Water

One Star

WILDflower

Big Bird (Q)

Cochran (Q)

Did you think Bird would approach a Postbroversary Co-Q absentmindedly?  Of course you didn’t. My guy started COP with the first of many touching tributes.  He honored my favorite flower, lilies, by warming us up with:

Lunge Walk

Imperial Walkers

LBCs

Lomey Lu Plank & Merkins

Yoke Walk (bearing a strong resemblance to rifle carry)

My guy is so thoughtful that he went deep into his bag to get that third “L” exercise just for a little EC.  With commitment like that, you can see how we keep finding ways for our relationship to stay fresh.

I took over from there under the protection of the Portico for what ended out being a Foundry-style rotation.  I brought my curl bar, and the push was doing 25 curls of 50#.  Then we rotated stations:

Curls

Squats

LBCs

Jump Squats

Chest Press

Flutter Kicks

Calf Raises

Triceps Extensions

Step Ups

Overhead Press

Monkey Humpers

Rows

We completed three silent rounds of each of those rotations.  NOOOO!!!  Of course I had a playlist.  OF COURSE IT HAD A THEME!  The theme was “7”….like a Sesame Street segment.  I researched for the best track seven songs that I could find (and I also yelled at Meter for thinking that “Basket Case” by Green Day was “MMMMBop” Hansen), added a few songs with the number seven in the title, and then added some Taylor Swift and Madonna because I wanted to (and it’s my anniversary).

Bird took over from there, and it would be an understatement to say he stepped it up a notch.  We remained under the portico, where the watchful eye of the closed circuit camera captured 12 grown men completing three rounds of Ace & Garys (the plank side was doing Merkins).

Next, Bird split us up into two units representing The Free People of Middle Earth against the dark forces of Lord Sauron.  Dark Forces all did Step-Ups, Dips, and Derkins (20 reps each).  Then took a lap around the school.  The good guys did 5 Burpees, 5 Thrusters, and 5 lateral raises before taking a lap around the school and switching sides.

Bird brought his own playlist, spoiling the good guy side of the rotation with selections from Rhianna’s peerless catalogue.  After three rounds of Middle Earth (four or five for One Star), we moved on to Captain Thor for Mary, because my M told Bird that he’s my favorite Avenger.

In honor of Pelican, we returned coupon, then also did Pelican stretches for a few minutes before calling time.

COT:  Bird and I shared our feelings about how special you all are to us.  Not a dry eye among the PAX—on account of the rain.  But they probably had all the feels too.  Always a pleasure getting out there with Bird and looking back on some of our favorite F3 memories. Until next time…
