Just 3 Guys Rucking through Middletown

So my 2.0 and InsaneO’s 2.0 play in an indoor soccer league on separate teams and had a game against each other this a.m. After Saturday’s coffeeteria InsaneO says “hey want to go for a 3 mile ruck while the 2.0s play soccer tomorrow?” In my mind I’m thinking… Can’t I get a f^*king day to relax… out loud I say “Hell yeah!”

So InsaneO puts out an announcement on Slack in the #rucking channel and of course another gluton for punishment, Face, HC’d.

Weather: 40ish with light rain and sleet

Let me set the scene for you. The name of the place they play soccer is The Barn. It is located in a small shady looking warehouse surrounded by other small shady looking warehouse in Middletown behind Wal-Mart. I’m sure when Face pulled up he was thinking WTF is this place and where TF are we going to Ruck. No need to worry because InsaneO had done some map research and found a nearby neighborhood to ruck.

So my favorite part about rucking vs. ruck training is that you get to talk to your fellow ruckers. First topic of conversation was about how manly Starchild is and how we are in awe at his love for sports. If you ever miss an episode of Sports Center and need to be caught up on what’s happening in the sports world, ask Starchild. We moved on to the over and under of casualties at the planned JMF ruck on the 29th. We landed on however many pax show up besides Little Jerry. While rucking we covered many other topics and solved many of the worlds problems and I learned that Face works at Qdoba making tacos.

Seriously we had a great time. If you have not had a chance to participate in a ruck please do. It is a great way to get to know more about each other while getting better. Throw it out there on Slack and I can almost promise you that you will get at least 1 other pax to join you.
