PAX: Tool Time, PK, Red Roof, OJ, Storm Trooper, Diablo
Comditions: It was like that storm that wrecked Tom Hanks’ plane in Castaway.
Arrived at 0525. All PAX properly loaded up with rucks. All PAX were soaked upon stepping out into the Gloom. PAX unloaded two 25 dumbbells and two 50 lb dumbbells from the family truckster. PAX rucked and carried said dumbbells over to LCA. PAX never removed the rucks from their backs this morning. Keep that in mind when reading. We then did this:
4 x 4’s (10)
Copperhead Squats (IC) x 20
Merkins (10)
PAX then partnered up for a Hell Walk. That’s what Tool Time called it anyway, so I’m going with it. One team had the 50 lb dumbbells; one team had the 25 lb dumbbells; and, the last team had no weights (except for the rucks of course). The path for the Hell Walk was 350 feet. One member from each team walked the dumbbells down the path, and back. (That’s more than the length of two football fields). While one partner was on the Hell Walk, the other partner held a plank until his partner returned. PAX did three rounds, so that all PAX had a full go at it with the 50 lb dumbbells. (And all PAX held a very difficult plank for quite some time, x 3).
It must be noted that if a ruck weighs 35 lbs on avg, then the PAX, when carrying the 50 lb dumbbells, were moving rather briskly with something akin to an extra 135 lbs on them.
After Hell Walk, the PAX found the picnic tables at LCA for 40 full step ups (both feet had to come to a rest on the bench)
After that, which was loads of fun, PAX did this:
Decline Merkins (10)
Incline Merkins (10)
Reverse Lunges (20)
Copperhead Squats (20)
Grass Grabbers (15) – These are deceptively difficult with a ruck on your back.
PAX then carried the dumbbells back to the truckster (OJ curled the 25 lb’ers for a good bit of it), and with time remaining, did a quick, wet, sprint-ruck around the road, back through the tennis courts.
I’m not sure if the rain helped us or made it more difficult, but it didn’t hurt anyone I assure you. It was a difficult workout, but we all got better. That’s the point, isn’t it?
