Yesterday was my first time posting in Louisville in almost two weeks & I was greeted by an absolute beat down by McAfee…it was AWESOME. Who knew you could truly miss doing burpees, squats, big boys, air presses, LBCs, Bobby Hurley’s, & more at 0530 in the morning?!? This morning when my alarm went off things were slightly different as I heard the rain pouring down & thunder awaiting me outside. Never the less I got myself up & out the door because after all we don’t get up for easy.
By the time I arrived at The Posh (7 minutes later) I was ready to go & looking forward to the IronPAXChallenge Teaser WO McAfee was going to lead. Per usual I was stretching & greeting fellow PAX as they rolled in when I felt a text come through on my watch at 0521…from McAfee. The M’s car was having some issues so as the leader of his home McAfee had to take care of things & wasn’t going to make it. BUT he sent me the entire WO he had planned so all I had to do was take the Q. By this point it was 0528 & the PAX were starting to ask where McAfee was when Weedwacker (who McAfee had also text) broke the news. Weedwacker is signed by up his VQ on 8/31 & even though he’d been given the WO for today I didn’t want him to feel that pressure. Plus part of your VQ is getting to plan your WO…the way you want it so, I didn’t want him to miss out on that. I let the PAX know I’d fill in for McAfee the best I could because honestly as leaders we’ve got to anticipate obstacles so we’re prepared to lead appropriately when they arise.
I gave the disclaimer that I am not a professional, I am no McAfee, each individual was there on their on free will, to motify as needed, & we were off.

Thang 1 – IronPAX Challenge Teaser WO
For this WO each PAX was timed individually. Due to the weather conditions we wanted to perform the WO on the concrete, but there isn’t a parking lot 100 yards in length so we placed cones 50 yards apart to do the following:
Partner 1: times Partner 2
Partner 2 performs:
- 25 hand release Merkins
- Bear Crawls to the cone 50 yards away & back
- 25 more hand release Merkins
- Bear Crawls again to the cone 50 yards away & back
- Total: 50 hand release Merkins & BC 200 yards
Upon completion by Partner 2 the two PAX members switched. Here were the times it took for the participating PAX to complete the Thang:
- Catfish: 4 minutes 42 seconds
- Nino: 5 minutes 43 seconds
- Iceman: 6 minutes 52 seconds
- Jitterbug: 7 minutes 28 seconds
- Fanny Pack: 8 minutes 28 seconds
- Weedwacker: 8 minutes 37 seconds
- Retainer: 8 minutes 54 seconds
Once the PAX was finished we moseyed back to the meeting point for Thang 2, which McAfee planned.
Thang 2
Each PAX performed the following doing as many rounds as they could individually from 0600 – 0615.
- 40 squats
- 20 burpees
- 400 meter run (2 laps around the parking lot loop)
I’m pretty sure Catfish got 3 rounds in (he’s an animal) & the rest of the PAX was finishing up round 2 when it hit 0615.
By this point we were soaked so we moseyed over to the Posh Gazebo to finish up.

Announcement(s): Starting next week the IronPAXChallenge will be in full effect. Each week a WO will be put out for all of the regions participating to follow & submit their times/scores. For F3Louisville this weekly WO will take place on Tuesday’s at the BO the Crucible at The Posh.
Intention(s): Catfish informed us he had a friend pass away over the weekend. Thoughts & prayers for this individual along with his family.
I thanked the SkyQ for the day & challenged the PAX to do hold on close to their 2.0s whether they’re an infant in the case of Mr. Hat or going off to college like Iceman & Jitterbug. I asked that the SkyQ give each of us the strength & courage to LEAD our 2.0s as they find their way in this world. I asked for the strength & courage to be the leaders needed in our homes & community.
Like I said I’m no McAfee, but I’m proud to be friends with a HIM like McAfee & every other HIM in the gloom this morning that forced me to be better. Whether planned or not, it’s ALWAYS a humbling privilege to Q.
