Those Shelby County Boys know how get after it and push each other. When Sadie asked if I’d pick up the Q this day, there was little thought I’d have to give to HC for two reasons. 1: The aforementioned and 2: It was rumored that the Ghost Flag was there. A bit about he Ghost Flag if you aren’t already aware. It’s purpose is to encourage PAX to get out and visit other AO’s. When it’s at one spot it takes 5 PAX from another AO to be present to “capture” it and take it back with them. Another fact you may not be in tune to: County Boys travel. I feel like the Ghost Flag May have lost its luster a bit over time. You see, when another AO makes it out to Pewee Valley to nab the flag, the County is usually there the next day to take it “home.” So much so it would seem, that the Ghost Flag had all but maintained permanent residency at the County. This would hold true until Nino thought he’d be cute and take the Flag back to N Posh…wait….S Posh? Well that couldn’t be, because we showed up and it wasn’t there. They said it was at North. But when our 5+ arrived at North the next week, it wasn’t there either. After realizing that the old rumor mill was in fact truth in this instance, we finally discovered after about a week and a half that he planted it at the farthest AO from any other spot….Bayside.
So when Sadie asked me to pick up the Q, I reached out to my County thread (already knowing of course, that my answer to Sadie would be yes) and said if I have at least four to travel with me to Bayside, I’d pick up the Q and we could grab the flag. Within 10 minutes at about 8 am on a Monday morning, we had our five! Nice! Here we come Ghost Flag.
Nino, I will commend you for a job well done. With your intricate planning, I’m sure this was your intention all along, right? Well, if that’s the case, it worked. We got 7 County Boys to show up and work with 9 Bayside Boys and the result on this day, and I believe all who were in attendance would agree (except our FNG, Decaf, that I’m pretty sure was close to spilling Merlot), was something truly special!
PAX: Sadie, Charolais(R), Fanny Pack(R), Shuttlecock(R), Banana Bread, Grandpa Bear, Birdie, Schotzie, Decaf(FNG), Bulletin(R), Airplane, Alexa, LePew, Cochran, Fungi, BigBird (QIC)
We would start with a COR. Airplane mentioned this was his first trip to Bayside. Let’s give him a tour with a mosey around the gargantuan front parking lot.
Circle up for COP: Grass Grabbers 15IC, SSH 20IC, Abe Vagodas 15IC, 5 inchworms with a Merkin, Toy Soldiers 10 IC
Thang 1: 11’s 10 Sumo Squats to 1 Plyo Push-up 9/2, 8/3, etc. Bernie Sanders one way, Mosey Back. What once was observed still held true: Shuttlecock is fast…and a beast! (Mad Respect!)
Thang 2: The HIIT: 10 reps of each exercise getting in as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes. Merkin, Air Squat, X Body Mountain Climbers, Burpee, Leg Raises, Renegade Rows, Jump Lunges, Table Top Toe Grabs, Buzz Saw Planks, Prisoner Jump Squats. We would finish 3 Rounds…Woof! This was my favorite part as we look and see Fanny Pack crushing it. The newest, consistent Bayside crew member Schotzie, gettin after it. Everybody from Grandpa Bear to LePew, throwing out encouragements to “Keep Pushing!” “Let’s work!” “C’mon, all you got!” YHC was blessed to be a part of that moment.
We would finish…and I mean finish all the way to 0616 to see it through to the end: Jack Webb 1 BBSU/4 American Hammers all the way to 10/40.
Rang the Bell and that was my time.
Circled up for COR, NOR, COT. We named our FNG Decaf because he apparently likes coffee. Fanny Pack encouraged him that his name could’ve been worse…
Made some announcements and had a moment of silence, thinking about the start to another beautiful day and all of the blessings we have in our lives. Thanked this strong group of men for making it out ITG with me. I am glad to call you all friends and am better for having worked with you.
Until next time…
