Back Blast 9/7/19 – #theNest @theCounty 0700 Dauber VQ

It is a humbling experience to Q a workout with 22 HIMs who push me through each workout, so the theme of my VQ was all about teamwork. YHC was simply the coach that laid out the plan and guided the PAX who executed with precision, relentless effort, and moxie.
The temperature was perfect…best described as “hittin’ weather”. We welcomed one FNG (Asian Zing), delivered the disclaimer and PAX confirmed.

We started with a mosey to the COP. Good mumblechatter and Coach Dauber warned the PAX of his frustration from Friday night’s high school football results and subsequent impact on the impending beat down.

After the COP we moseyed to the field to get after it.

Main Thang – TOUCHDOWN DRIVE
100 yard football was marked off in 10 yard increments. PAX fully bought into Coach’s game plan – nothing fancy or pretty…we will march down the field old school style…earning every yard. Starting at our own goal line and keeping our eyes on the far end zone, we began our touchdown drive which consisted of the following…
10 burpees, run to own 10yd line, 10x merkins, backpedal to goal line
9 burpees, run to own 20yd line, 20x jump lunges (20 each leg), backpedal to goal line
8 burpees, run to own 30yd line, 30x big boy sit ups, backpedal to goal line
7 burpees, run to own 40yd line, 40x squats, backpedal to goal line
6 burpees, run to 50yd line.
Before continuing we doubled-back to pick up the six until the full PAX was gathered at midfield. It was time for some motivational coach-speak. It’s often lost in our fantasy football world today, but no player scores a touchdown in football. Every touchdown is a TEAM touchdown! With that we completed 50 SSH as a team and mentally prepared for the toughest part of the drive. Every yard earned on the opponent’s side of the field gets tougher and tougher so we doubled the reps…
5 burpees, run to opponent 40yd line, 80x squats, backpedal to goal line
4 burpees, Run to opponent 30yd line, 60x big boy sit ups, backpedal to goal line
3 burpees, run to opponent 20yd line, 40x jump lunges (40 each leg), backpedal to goal line
2 burpees, run to opponent 10yd line, 20x merkins, backpedal to goal line
1 burpee
Again we picked up the six and gathered at our own goal line before an “all you got” sprint to the end zone and back for a true TEAM TOUCHDOWN.

Thang 2:
PAX killed it on the TD drive but did not rest on that accomplishment. Champions are built at the end of practice when it hurts and there is no adrenaline left. We worked like champions today, and went straight into a set of 11’s with Carolina Dry Docks and LBCs. Followed this up with a half mile Toy Bowl Run (aka Indian Run) with 2 sprinting at all times. We picked up Bulletin who had just completed a 9 mile run and joined us for a round of Mary led by the PAX – Flutter Kicks, LBCs, American Hammers, Pickle Pounders, Gas Pumps, J-Los.

The PAX gathered in the COT for CoR and NoR. FNG was welcomed and christened “Asian Zing”. No announcements, but intentions were shared and YHC thanked the PAX for all they do before we ended with a Hail Mary. It was an honor to Q this group of HIMs with hearts of champions.
