Pre-WO
It’s been awhile since I have Q’d at an AO for the first time, but I have really grown fond of the new Black Ops at the Mary T Meagher Aquatic Center and so when I saw Glen Ross’s slack post looking for a Q for this past Friday, I jumped on it. I also went to Home Depot that night to get two brand new coupons for my Q (wasn’t aware that there were already a few coupons at Mary T) and even coerced my brother and long lost Pax Noxeema Jackson to post on Friday (if I was an asshole big brother I would point out that Noxeema texted me on Thursday to ask if there was still a BO at the Mutt on Fridays and so he was completely unaware of the Mary T BO that has been going strong for over a month and that YHC, his brother, was the Q on Friday…but I’m not like that so I won’t call him out).  Love ya bro.

COP

Thang 1
My favorite area at Mary T is the running track around the water reservoir.  This is a hidden 40206 gem that I had no idea existed before F3.  At a few of my prior Qs, I did something called P-M-S which stand for plank jacks, merkins and squats.  The concept of this routine (which was borrowed from OJ who borrowed it from F3 Hilton Head) was to move in a four corner progression with an increasing amount of reps of each exercise at each of the four corners and then reverse and go back to each prior corner with decreasing reps of the same exercise.  It goes like this:

Corner 1: 10 plank jacks, 10 merkins, 10 squats
Corner 2: 20 plank jacks, 20 merkins, 20 squats
Corner 3: 30 plank jacks, 30 merkins, 30 squats
Corner 4: 40 plank jacks, 40 merkins, 40 squats
Corner 3: 30 plank jacks, 30 merkins, 30 squats
Corner 2: 20 plank jacks, 20 merkins, 20 squats
Corner 1: 10 plank jacks, 10 merkins, 10 squats

This seemed like the perfect fit for the rectangle-shaped track bordering the reservoir but I underestimated how long this track was so I had to shut down this thang once we got to the 40 reps of each exercise corner.  It was still a lot of running and reps.

We then moseyed over to the golf course for a little work on Mary Sue.  Shout out to the golf course workers who clearly saw us on the golf course but left us alone and did not kick us off the course.

Thang 2
The aforementioned 2 coupons I purchased at Home Depot on Wednesday night were for Thang 2 which involved the Pax dividing into two teams.  However, since we ended up with 15 Pax and there were extra coupons at Mary T, I decided to divide the group into three teams of 5 Pax and grab a third coupon from the Mary T stash.

On Slack earlier this week, Fall Guy asked whether Mary Sue would be making an appearance on Friday and I told him that indeed she was.  For those that don’t know, “Mary Sue” is what we have named the monster hill on the Crescent Hill golf course (hole no. 4 or 5 maybe?) which was the name of a lady in Fall Guy’s past who he was/is not a fan of.

The three teams gathered at the bottom of the hill and the three coupons were placed approximately 50 yards up the hill next to each other.  This Thang involved a Pax from each team running up the hill to the coupons for 5 man makers while his other four teammates did an OYO progression of 10 LBCs, 10 gas pumps and 10 flutter kicks.  Once he returned, another teammate would do the same thing (run up the hill, man makers, etc,).

I was hoping each Pax would be able to run the hill three times but we had to call it after two rounds because it was 0610 and it would take a few minutes to get back to our starting point for COT.

COT
We closed out with our numbers, names, announcements, prayer to the Sky Q and we were out.  It seems like I have had more bad days than good days the last few months, but my best days always start with F3 and I am extremely thankful for that.
