Back 2 back Q’s following Independence Day? You Crazy Bird! That’s what I was thinking. As it turns out, my super sensitive, high anxiety, 4 yr old Golden Retriever (F3 Sir Licks A lot) told us he couldn’t be left alone; it would be an early night trying to pacify him from all of the storms and fireworks. Your Bird was well rested and ready for the challenge!
First up: The Tank @ Vets. The PAX: StickUp, Crawl, Bombay, LockBox, Me
These beasts went on an adventure with me as YHC selfishly tried to knock out miles and merkins (insert challenges) needed for my daily ✅ . Blackjack was the game and it was “21” style. 20 merkins, 1 BBSU…19, 2 – 18, 3…so on so forth until we got to 1 merkin and 20 BBSUs. We would get a couple of hard mosey laps around the Monument at various “recovery” breaks. Some notes: Bombay’s an animal, Lockbox, ever so consistent with a sexy stride, Stickup’s my boy and Crawl…went beast mode!…your a$$ better keep getting to the Gloom to lead from the front!
Next – # 2rd of back to back Q’s from The Moonshiner @ The Boondocks. The PAX: Bulletin (R), Tudors, Portabucket, Sarah Palin, Pizza, Cochran, Honey Do, Pelican, me again.
Di·as·po·ra – /dīˈasp(ə)rə/ would be our word of the day thanks to Cochran (one of the smartest, wittiest, most self aware dudes I know). Def: ‘people who have spread or been dispersed from their homeland.’ Inspiration would strike Cochran’s frontal lobe midway through the beatdown when we were spread all across the running loop at the front of the park. He would drop this word on your Bird and school me on something I’ve never heard of in 45 yrs and 10 months of life – who says it’s “just a workout”?
Again, I was selfishly trying to knock out my daily challenges in 45 minutes and these boys stepped up to the the CSAUP task at hand! Around the loop with 5 stops. At each stop: 20 Merkins, 10 jump lunges and 10 BBSUs. We would get in as many loops as possible as time allowed.
Some notes here: Honey Do’s the man, for getting out with me for a pre run in the hood across the way. Cochran, Honey Do and Pizza were some animals seen way ahead of the pack. Pelican was seen putting in some hard work…and not just from his jaw muscles. Tudors, Portabucket, Bulletin and Sarah Palin pushed through and never quit till the end. And the motivational playlist found on YouTube….it sucked!…unless of course you were interested in hearing ads on financial freedom…
Always appreciate my time out ITG with you men and never take for granted how special this thing is that we have all been fortunate enough to find!
Until next time…
