I imagine Slide Rule to be very organized and somewhat of a perfectionist in his personal life. For a dude not yet in his 30’s he seems pretty well put together and wise beyond his years. He takes his duties seriously and when it comes to filling up the calendar for his Thursday beatdowns, early and often is key. When he reached out to me a month in advance asking me to lead his boys…well, I didn’t have anything else going on at that time…And I’ve never once regretted making the trip to hangout with dem Bayside boys…so yeah, Slide, anytime bro and at least once er’y quarter.
I was inspired in a couple of different ways to work up a good wienke. 1) merkins and miles. 2) Tabata and 3) Chris Hemsworth.
Returning from a pre run of 6 laps around the 1/2 mile loop around the field I would find several either arriving early, just in time or right at the wire to see what your Bird had under his wing.
The PAX: Little foot, Banana Bread, Charolais (R x 2), Bugle Boy (R x 2), Borland (R), Birdie, Slide Rule 2.0, Friendly Fire, Slugger, Firing Pin, Eye Booger, BigBird (Q)
0530, disclaimer was given and off we would go for a 4 corners mosey with 25 Merkins at each corner to get loose. Returned back for some COP type stuff to loosen everything else up.
Thang 1: Tabata with 20 seconds on , 10 seconds off for 8 rounds. Round 1: Merkins over coupon, Round 2) Plank Jacks – 4 rounds of each
Thang 2: The Chris Hemsworth: with a coupon, 10 curls, 10 overhead press, 10 tricep ext, 10 coupon squats. Short break in between each set before completing 4 ttl rounds.
The last Thang: 4 corners with 5 of each at one corner, then 10, then 15 then 20. Merkins, Groiners and Jump Lunges.
A few things from a Bird’s eye view: Slide Rule likes to lead from the front. EyeBooger was on my heels the whole time and ALL worked hard. Also, in saying hey to a PAX I was unfamiliar with I learned that Bugle Boy is Slide Rule’s Dad and his first post was a birthday present to his son! Pretty awesome! And he’s still posting!!
Had a bit a time for some Mary before COR, NOR and COT.
Brought it in tight for a quick prayer of thanks and an Our Father before being sent on our way to tackle the day.
