The concept of this workout would be simple. The Colonel William Oldham statue and the area surrounding it is under construction. That space is off limits for now. What is available, is the stretch of road on Main St. And smack dab in the middle is 2nd St (aka Heartbreak Hill). YHC figured this to be a perfect “T” and would theme the workout as such, paying homepage to the letter T. (Yankovic is a lover of paying homage to just about anything so I knew at least 1 PAX would appreciate it.)
As it turned out, Yankovic and 16 other PAX were all curious to know what this T celebration was all about.
The PAX: Holy Roller (Rx2), Yankovic (Rx2), Ruby (R), Kitty Litter (R), SQL (sequel), Layover, Patty, Virginia Slims, Portabucket, Bagpipes, Travolta, Rip Van Winkle, Snaggletooth, Mannequin, Zip Tie, Swingset, Ferb, BigBird (Q)
0530 hit. Start out with a disclaimer and then a mosey to the licka sto. Stopped for some COP: Stretching stuff with sets of 20 Merkins intermittently and throughout.
Mosey to the end of the block, up the hill and corralled up to artistic Boss Hog, F3 centerpiece to set up for…
Thang 1: knowing that the letter T was to be the star of this workout, YHC found a song that was all about educating listeners about any number of words that start with T. Such as, did you know that turtles play tennis with tigers and turkeys??!! Anyway, while we listened to the song, we would either SSH or plank and every time we heard “T” we would drop for two merkins. There was a lot of “T”s in that song. There were no “A”s. We got in a good head start for the daily merkin challenge. It was silly…and FANTASTIC!
Recover and head to the corner of Main and 2nd for:….The other Thang: It would be a rinse and repeat-o of the following; 20 merkins at the top of heartbreak hill. Take a right and you were doing 20 “real” shoulder taps. Take a left and you were doing 10 burpees. Go down the hill and you were doing 20 jump lunges. Whenever you came to the center of the T, 20 merkins.
Some notes: Holy Roller helped me to realize there were no “T” merkins. Dang!! Opportunity missed! #birdbrain. Everyone loves the T song. SQL put in some work and kept me on track for 300+ merkins (BTW, Snaggle, Rip and HR got in 350 [Woof!!]) Zip Tie is my new favorite PAX with a badass story behind the naming convention!!( I hope Swingset encourages him to keep coming out.) Kitty Litter and Patty are HIM that smashed the alarm clock and joined me for some hill repeats at 0500!!
Recover and returned the flags (that are still in place) for some motivational Mary (IYKYK).
Time was called and we circled up for some COR, NOR & COT. I love my boys at the Patriot and they have love for each other…and any travelers…and Yankovic. Any trip up north is always worth it and gives you the feel goods on the way home, ready to crush the day! Thanks Furdays for staying on me!
Until next time…
