It’s been entirely too long since I’ve had the Q at The Hawk’s Nest…wait a minute….I’ve never Q’d at the Hawks Nest. Regardless, it’s been too long. Due to the aforementioned comment, it was time! I asked Vincent if he had any openings and this day would be that day.
Preblast sent out the day prior to gain some engagement. Alarm set, leaving time for commute. Gearlander (equipped with F3 County shirt and interesting socks) set out. Tailgater charged and two cones stacked in the car, eager to be placed and ready to go.
0527: arrive to the AO. Pizza and Nutty Professor exchanging mumble chatter waiting to see if the Q was going to show. Vincent pulls in after me and plants the flag. 0530 and ready to give the disclaimer when an old school 4×4 jeep screeches into the lot and does 0-60 in 5 seconds and 100 yards. It would be Spaulding who is so badass, he doesn’t even drive with a door!
0531.30 Disclaimer is now given and off we would go for a warmup mosey around the church. Lap 2 we picked up the pace, readying ourselves for that 1%
COP: Grass Grabbers, Tempo Merkins, Imperial Walkers, Tempo Merkins, SSH, Tempo Merkins, Runners Stretch, Mountain Climbers.
Recover and ready ourselves for…
Thang 1: Tabata – to the AC/DC song Thunderstruck we would, Burpee over coupon, curl, skull crush and squat. Rinse and repeat-o (20 seconds on 10 seconds off) Recover and head to the rectory for…
The Main Thang: workout would be 5 thrusters on one cone, travel your coupon to the middle (5 manmakers) travel your coupon to the other cone for 5 coupon swings. Travel back. Every time you are in the middle, 5 man makers. Number of reps of the other stuff would go to 10, then to 15 back to 10 and then 5. All together we climbed the ladder and made it back down. Vincent was Mr. Consistent, Pizza beasted a sandbag heavier than the standard issued coupon, Spaulding split his couple perfectly across his head (good thing he brought a backup) and Nutty Professor was still trying to figure out what was going on and how many reps of each.
Recover and time enough for…
The Final Thang; Manamana – we would hold plank for the duration of the song and would get in two merkins every time we heard “manamana.” It was silly, it was enlightening….it was fantastic!!
4 minutes left for Mary where we would go around the horn as PAX called out exercises. 0615 and two seconds and Nutty would lead us in our final Mary exercise. After all, there are 60 seconds in a minute and we still had 58 seconds to spare.
Circled up around tue flag for COR, NOR and COT. Made some announcements and lifted up our intentions. Most notably for Spaulding’s mother Pam who is battling cancer.
Always a pleasure to lead and glad to be in the same space as the 4 dudes who made it out with me.
Until next time…
