It’s hard for me to believe but this will be the 5th year in a row for this challenge that began as a CSAUP/Freed to Lead type of idea in 2020. To say that I’m humbled to have had about 100 different guys participate in the past 4 years would be an understatement. Honorable mention goes out to Digiorno, Pope, Squid, StickUp and DeVitto who have been on this journey with me every year since it all began! I’ve had a front row view in witnessing mental and physical transformations of PAX all across our region. The challenge even bled into another region as Squid got his boys in Evansville involved in 2023. This is a challenge that opens up the doors to possibilities. Once you uncover what you are capable of, you find yourself testing the waters in other areas of your fitness as well. This past year we had 26 men…that’s right 26 complete the challenge of 2023 pull-ups in three months. Many of those men went above and beyond that, some got to 5,000 and a couple of elites reached 10,000!! It starts with saying “yes.” Yes to something difficult. Yes to something that will take persistence and consistency. Yes to going uncovering a part of you that you didn’t know was there. Won’t you join us this year?!
The meat and potatoes: Complete 2024 pullups in 91 days from January 1st – March 31st. It ends up only being about 23/day. You can knock them all out at once or break them up throughout the day.
If you don’t already have a pull-up bar, you can pick one up at Dick’s or Academy or order one off Amazon. I’ve seen prices as low as $25. Talk to Lockbox about how he upgraded his pullup situation if you have questions.
But Bird (one might say), I can’t even do one pull-up! I don’t give a shit about that! It starts by saying yes to the challenge and joining 2024-pull-up-challenge on Slack. Once there, guys will share best practices, motivation and accountability. You can use bands to assist you, pull yourself up from the floor using a table, dead hang to strengthen the area…whatever it takes! It all counts!! If you have questions, let me know.
