5.30.24 Back Blast: The Bridle @ The Stable

Never once have I regretted smashing the alarm clock knowing that what was about to go down was something tough. Let me set this up. I have the Q at The Stable, wienke’s set and ready to go. Knowing the I’m taking part in the Sandlot running Challenge, depends reaches out the night before and asks if I had reached out to Sewanee to see about a pre run. A great idea to get in run but…Sewanee? Dude don’t play! He finished the most recent Marathon in sub 3 hours with a 6:46 pace for 26.2 miles and of course qualified himself for The Boston!! Beast!!! He responds to my text with an “I’m in! See you there! Fast forward to 0457 and upon meeting up with him he says, “you okay to try something different?” In my head a long fuuuuuu@# is thought but what comes out verbally is, “yeah, man, let’s do it!” 3.18 miles later, sucking wind, it proved to be just the head start YHC needed to lay one down for The Stable boys! Here’s who showed up to see what Your Bird had done under his wing:

The PAX: depends, Lumbergh, Maytag, Flexseal, D-List, Viking, Steve-O, Tudors, HBK, Beans, Bunsen, Sewanee, Miranda, Montezuma, BigBird Q

Running was what was on the menu for today but I tried to mix it up with a little of the Good Times. Mosey around to the back lot and circle up for some COP. Did some of the usual to get us loose and got us ready for…

The Good Times: The was no Jimmy Walker “dyn-o-mite” but what did transpire was a 5 burpee, 10 merkin and 15 squats whilst the theme song played on loop for 3:10 seconds.

Recover and prep for the next thang: partner up and as partner 1 runs runs as fast as he is able around the loop, partner 2 does an easy mosey waiting to be tagged in only to do his hard run. We would carry on like this for 15 minutes which was exactly the length of the play list that was created.

Called it , recovered and Maytag gave YHC some grief over ending Bruce’s song early. Sorry bro, still have work to do! I do have to say though that there was some pretty special moment in that 15 minutes of hard running! If you were there, you know who you are!

Loaded the Tailgator on my shoulder and played the Dora the Explorer theme song as we headed to the front lot. Flex Seal and others picked up on this quick that some Dora was next on the menu.

The final Thang: A Dora of 50 Burpees, 150 Merkins and 200 BBSUs. I was fortunate enough to have Bunsen as my partner and let me tell you, dude put in work! Max effort was put in by all and there was a good deal of pushing each other and motivational mumble chatter throughout. Once more, it was pretty special! All in all, the beatdown qualified for a little Sandlot action. Solid work for 45 minutes boys!

Time was called and we circled up for some COR, NOR & COT. Mentioned some announcements and lifted up our intentions. Such a good energy out here at the AO of the year and YHC was honored to have gotten just a little bit better with you boys ITG!!

Until next time….

BigBird
