7.5.2024 Back Blast: The Chopper @ Veterans Memorial

Temperature: 77 degrees, thick and soupy. Atmosphere: A light fog in the air, likely due to the evening before festivities. Gearlander: Brooks Ghost runners, patriotic stars and stripes Stance socks, red Champion shorts, 2022 Convergence Q “It Pays to be a Winner” tank and a Velcro hat with an American Flag patch as the cherry on top.

As always, I’m a sucker for a callout so when Lockbox reached out in search of a Q for the 5th of July, it seemed a great idea to keep the patriotic train rolling at the most hallowed of grounds AO in all the land. I always look to be inspired as I put together a wienke and while I was checking through my email yesterday I opened up a “News of the F3 Nation” message and found something that F3 Suncoast (FL) has been doing for the past 7 years. The Patriot Games. Seemed perfect for the occasion so I decided to lay it down for my boys:

The PAX: Tall Tale (R), Dauber, Lockbox, Toad & BigBird (Q)

Before 0530 hit, mumble chatter was strong as we discussed the war-like sounds that echoed in the early night skies and the effect that it had on our K-9s. Thunder vests seemed to be a popular solution although not 100% effective. Other topic discussed during our time together: dogs frieking out over hot air balloons, Tony Malito not needing to show because he likely already knew what everyone had for dinner, flying ants making their triumphant return and finally, there was no way in the world we were going to get through the entire Patriot Games workout in 45 minutes.

We would warmup with a couple of laps around the monument and some COP type exercises before getting into…

The Thang: The Patriot Games: 1 mile run followed by 100 of each: Merkins, Overhead claps, LBCs, Dips, Moroccan Nightclubs, Leg Scissors, Step ups, Squats, American Hammers, Mountain Climbers, Shoulder Taps, Plank Jacks, High Knees, Lunges & SSHs. At the conclusion we would bear Crawl for a bit before finishing off with a bunch of burpees. This was a ton and maybe, just maybe, Sewanee, Bombay or Husky might have been able to knock it out in 45 minutes but even for those beasts it would’ve been a tall order. We decide to shorten the rep count and even then had to cut it short. We did make sure to get in our Bear Crawls and finished with 4 minutes worth of Burpees before time was called.

We circled up around the seal for COR, NOR & COT. We made some announcements and lifted up our intentions. It was at this time as the 5 of stretched it out so as not to step on the seal that Tall Tale apologized for sweating on me but quickly recanted saying it was my fault for making him sweat so much. I blame Mother Nature cuz boys…it was steamy!!!

Appreciate you guys for making out with me and continuing on with the celebration of our Independence while we put in some solid work together!

Until next time…

BigBird
