8.2.24 Back Blast: The Baptizer @ The Garden

I went 2 for 3 on my Pre Blast from last night. 1) There was no Phish. 2) He is always Merlot hunting and after hearing about the burpee, Husky Manmaker extravaganza, Huggies made a smart move not listening to his alarm clock on Thursday morning. What I was wrong about was that Jewel DID show up at his home AO two days in a row. As a matter of fact, today was the 5th in a row that he woke up to post! Heck yes my guy! When I get to The Garden, his was the first face I saw already in the circle that hadn’t yet begun to form. Wasting no time he says, “How you gonna call me out Bird?!” Easy. Cuz I missed you, you’re like me; always a sucker for a callout and I knew that it would work. Jewel and 8 others would join me on this fine Friday morning.

The PAX: Crash (R), LDB (little drummer boy), Limp Bizkit, Mom Suit, Jewel, Glowsticks, Huggies, Wax-On, Wide Right, BigBird (Q)

I got to learn alot today! It’s amazing what one can learn when you just ask. Here’s the skinny: One had a special, man surgery, one’s from Buffalo, another is from West Virginia, one had a somewhat embarrassing leg injury, one likes to go to raves, one plays the drums, one wrecked his motorcycle at his first post, one crapped his suit, and one got busted rubbing behinds. I could have ended there and it would have already been a fantastic start to the day! Good thing there was a cherry on top of the Baptizer so that we could get our legs pumping, hearts beating and heads in the right place to ensure we were prepped to win the day!

On now to the work. After the disclaimer was given, I turned on my JBL Flip to cue up some Phish and off we’d go to mosey around the lot and up the Baptizer to get loose. Jewel was already fired up, singing songs and giving YHC some history lessons. Stopped by the church for a slaughter start and some other stretching, COP type stuff. After that we’d get in 3 rounds of 75 yard sprints. Recover and so as to continue to make good on my pre blast promise, we’d traverse down the Hill of Stolen Souls to find ourselves at the coupon stash. I loved seeing that nearly everyone grabbed a turkey (the jacked up version of your standard issue coupon) for whatever was going to be next. It could’ve been 100 Manmakers! My boys didn’t care! They were up for the challenge!

This Thang: It wasn’t awful though…Nothing like yesterday’s Cloverfield workout I’m sure. We would get in three sets of 10 of the following: Curls for the girls, Upright rows and Thrusters. It was in between sets, instead of 10 counts we got to learn how long everyone’s been coming out and how they got their names (one of new favorite things to do…) That was all the coupon work we’d do. Put em up and head to the middle of the top lot for…

The Next Thang: Partner up and make some moves around the lot. Partner one would begin a bear crawl. Partner two would run the oval from the top lot down to the bottom and back again. When he catches back up with partner 1 they would swap. It wasn’t over until we started from where we began (stole this one from Catfish). After that was done we would rinse and repeat but instead of bear crawls we would lunge walk. My guys made light work of things and we still had enough time for…

6 minutes of Mary: Captain Thor’s. This would be 1 BBSU to 4 two count American Hammers. Then 2 and 8, 3 and 12, so on and so forth until we ended at time with 7 and 28. With Phish still playing in my speaker (switched mid beatdown from the JBL to the Tailgater for dramatic effect) we would walk like a bunch of bada$$es back to the flag.

Circled up for COR, NOR and COT. Made some announcements and lifted up our intentions, namely, for Deacon Scott at St. Patrick’s who is fighting lymphoma. Maybe say a quick prayer when you can fellas to help him with his battle. Thanked the Sky Q for this group of friends and asked that He continue to bless us as we went about our days. Awesome time out in The Gloom and thanks LB for inviting me out!

Until next time…

BigBird
