8.24.24 Go Ruck (F3 Louisville) 2024 City Ruck – From a Bird’s eye view

T-Claps to Mr. Party Pants (Steve-O) for getting this thing going. Found it, announced it, created a channel, got boys to sign up, created an epic design for shirts, had them ordered (Swag’s the man!) and kept us in constant communication until go time. Stellar work Steve-O (and others that hand in making this happen.)

The PAX: Check #attendance_reports.

About a month ago, I was down to order a shirt….because it was awesome! I didn’t really think I was going do the ruck itself because your Bird’s not been much of a Rucker. But as the time approached (this past week as a matter of fact), I thought about Worm-tan’s quote, “Earned not Given.” I felt the tug to make sure I earned the shirt that I’ll wear out ITG. I checked in with the M to make sure she didn’t already have something planned for me and aside from missing one week of my son’s J-Town basketball league…I was in!

Fast forward…day of…looked at my list, checked it twice, made sure I had hydration, fuel, extra pair of socks. required weight in my Rucker (stepped on the scale with it to be sure) and off I would go to take on the day’s adventure.

Masse ran miles beforehand, Brisket did an hour of BFF (Baseline Functional Fitness) Beastmode awfulness and the rest of us corralled underneath the Big 4 Bridge awaiting the instructions of our Cadre. It was so impressive to see F3 Louisville rolling deep with 14 ready to get to work! For context, there were about 60 people registered in total and to see us all together way out-numbering any one group, sporting our Swag shirts certainly made this Bird feel like he was a part of something special!

Now…there was a lot that happened on this day and for teams HIM and PAX, if you feel so inclined, I would encourage you to put a back blast together from your perspective. But here are some examples of the highlights that Team Spartan went through as seen from a Bird’s-eye view.

We went right instead of left, we J-walked, dodged and angry speedster, we helped a lady pick up her stuff, we learned that The Belle of Louisville is the best place to have a wedding reception, learned about the Appalachian Trail, fist bumped with Cadre Hand and got some apples, saw a couple of ruckers running the whole thing, spotted our boys who made the right hand turn, rucked our way through a Cross Country meet, found Worm (or maybe he found us), stopped at a gas station to briefly recharge, got a “woo-hoo!” from a lady in a BMW, made a turnaround, HL’ed a couple of dudes, found Worm again…and Duplo, found some CDs and a Windows XP install disk, until finally picking up the pace with about 200 meters to go to return to the Startex. We snapped a bunch of photos along the way that we had to show off to our Cadre before receiving our patch and celebratory beer(s). We finished up the event with some of the best fellow ship and if one were to stick around long enough, maybe saw Sharon with a Domino’s pizza delivery, courtesy of Viking.

I’ve never regretted any one time that I made the decision to get out to do something tough with my brothers and this certainly was not the exception! I feel like I can speak for us all when I say this was a hella good time!!

Until the next one…
