The Thang 1 – Ménage a DORA

8 of us moseyed with our coupons to Shaggy’s Field of Dreams (aka City Place parking lot).

I began explaining the workout, how it is designed for teams of three PAX, so we would have teams of 4 with each team having a conjoined twin. Cuz 8 PAX.

The PAX were not sufficiently caffeinated or something. Or I wasn’t explaining it very well, cuz I was getting a lot of dumb looks. It’s possible they just thought it was a dumb workout. Then Judge Judy rolls in to give us a perfect 9 count and save the day.

So we split into 3 three man teams.

Man #1 performs upper body exercise on one side of the parking lot.  Man #2 performs core exercise on the opposite side of the parking lot.  Man #3 runs sprints between Man #1 and Man #2.

Man #1 and Man #2 each commence his respective exercise.  Man #3 starts at Man #1, sprints across to the Man #2, returns to his start point, and then sprints back across and relieves Man #2 and picks up his exercise (just like a typical Dora).  Man #2 then performs the same “across-back-across” sprint and relieves Man #1 and picks up his exercise.  Man #1 becomes the sprinter, and the routine continues until the specified reps for the upper body and core exercises are completed.

Round One: 300 Merkins / 300 LBCs

Round Two: 200 Curls / 200 Big Boys

Round Three: 100 Overhead Press / 100 V-Ups

The merkins took longer than the LBCs, also one team finished way sooner on merkins than the others, cuz it had The Merkin Machine: DK. We all chipped in and helped the other two teams finish up their merkins.

The Big Boys took longer than the curls, so we had to finish up those as a group.

The V-Ups took longer than OHPs, so same thing.

The Thang 2

We then took a mosey to the bottom of HBH.

Starting there, we ran up HBH stopping at both intersections of Third Ave and at the top. 3 stops in all. At each stop a PAX was chosen at random to call out an exercise. Then I rolled the dice. We did 3x the roll of the called exercise.

We ended up doing 5 stops in all I think. Time called.

Tunes

We got a little funky today with funky tunes from 3 decades. No one cared. There’s a low bar at The Patriot: no ads, no Brianna (IFKYK)
