1.29.18 1930 BlackOp: Wait, we have night beatdowns too?

This story begins not unlike many others you have heard before. HIM EH’s his buddy. His buddy says blah blah blah (excuses). HIM goes on getting better and reminding said buddy that the gloom will always be there for him.

Fast forward 5 months and this is where things get interesting. YHC has been grinding with the Louisville PAX as many days a week as body and schedule allow. We have all gotten much better (still room for improvement) and embraced the freedom of scheduling our own BlackOps in accordance with the 5 Core Principles of F3:

Our Core Principles

F3 workouts …

• Are free of charge

• Are open to all men

• Are held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold

• Are led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion, with no training or certification necessary

• End with a Circle of Trust

With that said , we have had over 26 BOs this month with over 150 PAX participating. We have had Rucks, Bootcamps, Ruck PT sh!$ shows and runs. From 0500 to afternoon Rucks during 2.0 practices this has proved another great outlet to get together and get better.

So when this past Saturday at Holy Trinity’s VIP night ( since not a VIP I attended as someone’s plus one) YHCs buddy from the beginning of this story approached and asked if he could recruit some new guys for a Monday 730pm Bootcamp at the Mutt. Since I had moved onto my toes to continuing counting my libations I said “why the hell not. You get 5+ guys and I will be there.” The party was great and in between black clad cowboys yelling “habidah habidah SOLD” my buddy would stroll by and slur “I got another one”

It was not until Monday morning that the real implications of Saturday’s activities settled in. Yes Face and I did sing Darling by DAC and yes CI sang maybe a Shania Twain song (were not at country western bar) but I had also HC’d to Q an evening WO right in the middle of family time. Let’s just say that I had mixed emotions about this and move on.

So I ate a salad, through on my gloom gear and moseyed up to the Mutt BO Flag in tow.

Here is what went down.

PAX: Digiorno, Wilson, Blue Meth, Cardinal (w/ duct taped shoes ❤️) Scratch, Tron (right on time kind of ) 8Mile (FNG) Hamm (FNG) Zartan QIC

Conditions: high 20’s snow flurries and wind coming in from all directions

Zoo Attire Update: MudGear Tac Hat, Buff Ascot, F3Louisville Short sleeve with Patagonia Base layer over top, Nike tights, LuLu shorts, Smart Wool socks, Salmon Kicks and partridge in a pear tree 🌲

Disclaimer and brief explanation of what was to come and we set off for a warm up run around the football field. Tron joined the PAX and we circled up around the 50 Yd line for COP.

20 SSH IC

15 IW IC

20 Copperhead Squats IC

20 Abe Vigota IC

Kendra Newman’s front and back

Digiorno Shoulder Stretch L & R

Quick run to get coupons and circled up in the full parking lot due to odd hour of our WO.

Circled up with coupons for 5 minutes of fun. 60 second AMRAP with 5 seconds in between. Gave 10 before Rockies.

Incline Merkin

Rows

Curls

Overhead press

Rockies

Carried coupons back to field for some Dora

100 Merkin 150 Rows while P2 runs across field for 5 Squats and run back and switch

200 curls 250 LBC while P2 runs across field and does 10 lunges and returns for switch.

May or may not have been merlot spilled during those second leg.

While waiting for 6 PAX did 5 4x4s and SSH until Q called time.

Returned coupons to their home and lined up for Mary by the flag.

20 American Hammers IC

20 Rosalitas IC

Phiffer Kicks on Qs switch (woof. Lots of moaning and music too my ears)

Contemplates a webb close but allowed Tron to Lead is in some gas pumps (I think)

Circled up for COR NOR and learned about 8Mile and Hamm and welcomed them to the PAX. 8Mile shared some words about where he is today and we all replied we were there too and we are here for ya. Good moment. After that YHCs heart softened and I could stick to my original naming philosophy.

Shout out to Sky Q and we returned home to make up for lost family time.

All in all while I was apprehensive about the timing of this WO I really enjoyed the energy of the PAX and the return of some old faces. Welcome back Wilson and Blue Meth and look forward to seeing you all in the gloom.

Zartan
