Backblast: 7/11 – The Garden @ St. Pat’s – Nice and Slow Q

source

Weather: 76 Degrees, 94% Humidity

PAX: Steemer, Nino, Uncle Rico, Husky, Huggies, Domino, Harbaugh, Fructose, Airball, Ladybird, SnowDay, Tool Time, Frosted Tips, Milton, Nice and Slow (Q)

So I barely made my own Q on time.  But I pulled up with two minutes to spare.  I let everyone know that I was not a professional, they were there are their own free will, and to be sure to modify (up or down) during the workout.

We ran a St Pats lap and did some stretching and some basic warmup exercises.  We then divided into five teams of three. One team member picked up a coupon and brought it over to where everyone mosied.

For those of you who have never been to St. Pat’s, there are two hills.  The back hill (which we normally use) has apparently been named “HoSS” (Hill of Stolen Souls). Lady Bird always wanted to call the site Everest, so I am naming the front hill Everest in his honor. For my workout, I wanted to use Everest because it presents a different type of cardio challenge than HoSS.

Each team of three divided up.  One person at the bottom part of the hill, a middle person running, and a person at the top of Everest. The PAX at each end would be doing an exercise while the person in the middle ran to them.  Then they would switch.  Basically, everyone rotated from the bottom, running to the top, and then back down to the bottom.

We changed up the exercises throughout to try and keep it interesting: Burpees Jumps Over Coupons (BJOCs), Lunges, Box Cutters, Pickle Pounders, Squats, Half Burpee Tuck Jumps, and many more were completed.  There was also a lot of running, which kept everyone’s heart rates up.

We finished up right at 6:15 AM, stronger and better than when we began. It was a great time to get to lead such a great group of HIMs. Thanks for coming out!
