Headed inside the tennis courts for a VERY brief questionnaire…

    • Wait, aren’t there 5? Yup! I got schooled right off the bat in my own workout!

Warm up on the tennis courts – quick stretch cycle, suicide down, 20 slow merkins, suicide back, 10 slow merkins

Count off into teams of 3 and headed to the field hockey fields.

Explanation of the Thang, and mass confusion ensues… Cutlass noted that it’ll all make sense in the back-blast. I’m not so sure, but let’s give her a whirl.

Each team’s objective was to lunge walk a coupon to the Cannon’s lane curve, pick up a coupon waiting for them, and farmer carry both coupons back. The whole team was to complete 25 reps of the “on” exercise while one team member was lunge walking. When the set of 25 was completed another team member was to run to the lunge walker and relieve them, and as the relief runner was heading to the lunge walker the rest of the team was to do the “off” exercise. When the lunge walker returned the team, they would then move to a set of 25 of the next “on” exercise.

The “on” exercises were as follows – Merkins, Squats, Overhead Presses, Kettle Bell Swings, Curls

The “off” exercises were as follows – Planks, Bobby Hurley’s, Mountain Climbers, Supermans, Freddie Mercury’s

As the lunge walkers got further from the team the time of the “off” exercises became increasingly long… At its peak ~.4 mile run to relieve the lunge walker – ~.4 mile run to get back to the team. We were essentially doing 5+ minutes of Planks, Bobby Hurley’s, Mountain Climbers, Supermans, Freddie Mercury’s (no bueno).

All makes sense now though, right? Maybe we’ll never know. What I do know is that the Pax lifted me up, even when I felt like things didn’t go as well as I’d liked. I guess every workout is an experiment, and you really never know how they’re going to go until you try. Try, refine, try again. Just don’t quit.
