Tis the season, right?
So, when Kilo mentioned he was stuck in Detroit until late and wouldn’t be back in time for this Q at The Patriot I offered to help him out and pick it up. This meant planning the weinke on the fly. Good thing I have a decent commute to get there to come up with something special for the Patriots of LaGrange.
- Holy Roller (R)
- Midfield (2.0)
- Yankovic (R)
- Malpractice (welcome back!)
- Rogue (FNG) (2.0)
- Single Source
- Lax (2.0)
- Van Winkle
- Jolly Rancher (Q)
We picked up our coupons and made our way to the parking lot near the church. Here, we counted off and then jumped into some:
- Downward Dog + Runners Stretches
- Hillbilly Walkers
- Grass Grabbers
Thang 1 – Merkin / Bear Crawl Jack Web:
This is one of my favorites. Catfish introduced this to me at a Convergence years ago. It’s pretty simple – yet pretty effective as a warm up. Line up and do 1x merkin, then a 4-count bear crawl. Then, 2x merkins and then an 8-count bear crawl. Rinse and repeat keeping the 1:4 ratio until we made it to 10x merkins and 40-count bear crawl.
Thang 2 – DORA:
We actually had even numbers for once – figures since I really didn’t plan a DORA, but, I had to capitalize on having even numbers. So, we partnered up and did:
- 100 Jump Squats
- 150 Carolina Dry Docks
- 200 Curls
Thang 3 – Four Corners:
We went back on a mosey towards the statue. Felt like we had to get to be a bit more visible among all of the potential sad clowns driving down the street. So, we did a four corner set – 10x merkins at the first three corners and then back to the coupons for 20x skull crushers.
Damn. Still have more time. Need to plan something else. Should we do another round of Four Corners? Or, should we do something else?
Thang 4 – Jack Webb – Squats and Jump Lunges – aka, Lt. Dan!
Another fan favorite. Similar to Thang 1, except it’s a squat and a jump lunge with each movement / leg forward counting as 1. This always is deceiving and Cochran made sure to encourage / fool the PAX as he announced “half way there” after the 5:20 set. Towards the end, I asked a few of the PAX to help me count off on the jump lunges.
Countarama, namearama, naming of our FNG, announcements and intentions.
During the naming of our FNG, which is Single Source’s 2.0, we asked what he likes to do. He said Dungeon’s and Dragons, which nobody knew pretty much anything about. So, we asked him about favorite characters or anything like that. Focker, being the HIM that he is, asked if there were any female characters – right to the jugular. He said his favorite was Rogue, which I happened to identify also is a female in X-Men. Boom. Sold. Welcome, Rogue!
Swingset lifted up his M and a family member battling breast cancer. Focker and Holy Roller also lifted up some men that they’ve been talking with that are going through some difficult times. It is a great reminder that each and every single one of you have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s lives. Not tomorrow, but TODAY. So, I ended with a word of prayer that we continue to be the men that we need to be to make a difference and be a light in the dark for those that need it.
Always humbled to lead.
Jolly Rancher out!
