1 Yr Later F3 is…BB for the Bridge 12.19.18

Kilo first posted with F3Louisville on 7.19.17, which as it turns out was a very impactful day…for Kilo & me. You may be wondering why the hell am I talking about Kilo, but the reason is simple: Kilo HL me & it wasn’t easy. I remember talking to Kilo after the first time he posted & the countless times that followed over the next 5+ months. I thought the whole thing sounded crazy, but hey do your thing.

Since January ‘13 Kilo has been one of my best friends so the impact F3Louisville was having on him was very easy for me to see (and not just because he’d lost like 25+ lbs). It was the subtle changes in his mindset, his outlook, his PURPOSE that grabbed my attention. On 12.19.17 Kilo asked me for the nth time to come to a WO & finally I agreed. To say Kilo was excited to my agreement is an understatement. He immediately offered to pick me up (I think this was really because he didn’t want to give me an out not to show).

(Following the IronPAXChallenge Teaser)

That night I slept like shit. I was worried about sleeping through my alarm. I was anxious because I didn’t know what to expect. I was nervous because I couldn’t even remember the last time I worked out. I woke up every 30 minutes all night…it was miserable.

When Kilo picked me up he brought reinforcements, Rhythm (who HL Kilo) was in the car. We began talking, I remember Rhythm asking how physically active I was & my response being, “I’m not.” I couldn’t see Rhythm’s reaction, but I’m sure it mirrored the “WTF” going through my head.

The drive from my house in Lake Forest to The Posh felt like it took 30 seconds that morning. Again, WTF. We pull in about 0525, get out of the car to Kilo & Rhythm being embraced by the PAX…Mr. Hat, Bob Ross, Tool Time, etc. & again, WTF. A couple of minutes later I hear this deep radio sounding voice say, “Alright let’s circle up…blah, blah, blah…10 BOYOs!” The Q for my first post was none other than my 1stF co-Q, McAfee. McAfee just turned 30 (as turns out on the same day I turned 34) & as I’ve found out over the last year he’s an absolute physical animal. It’s true what they say, ignorance is bliss because since I’d never posted I was oblivious to how difficult the WO was (Kilo informed me afterward in the car).

Regardless the WO was underway & I struggled, but the PAX was there to pick me up…not leaving me behind & pushing me to finish. I quickly realized what had drawn one of my best friends ITG day after day in the rain & in the cold: BROTHERHOOD.

  • TAPs for Deep Dish’s daughter who is having surgery tomorrow.

With that I took it to the SkyQ thanking him for anther day asking he hear all of our intentions both said & unsaid. I also asked these 45 minutes be the hardest thing any of us do today, but if not that he give us the strength & courage to be the men needed as leaders in our homes…our community.

Since 12.20.17 I’ve posted 135+ times & it ain’t because I just love a free workout. It’s because F3 is fun. F3 is meeting new people. F3 is seeing yourself & others grow & succeed. F3 is serving others. F3 is becoming a better man. F3 is the comradority with other men going through the same daily struggles as me. Over the past 365 days F3Louisville has had a profound impact on me (hopefully for the better) & I am truly thankful to Kilo for HL me. Cliche or not, F3 truly is more than a workout. It truly is a privilege & a humbling experience to be apart of this PAX.

Thank You PAX of F3Louisville.
