BackBlast – CSAUP 3/23/19 North Posh Abacus Q

Several weeks ago at a North Posh run workout Dunphy floated the idea let’s run 50K around the 1.8 mile loop called the Coppiced Woods Trail. If you’re keeping score at home that’s 20 laps! Hmmm! Seems like a great CSAUP opportunity. YHC jumped on the idea and set the date of March 23, 2019. When you get this old you will go to any length to have a party for your birthday…celebrating being alive to get better!

According to the Google machine Coppice has the following meaning – Coppicing is a traditional method of woodland management which exploits the capacity of many species of trees to put out new shoots from their stump or roots if cut down. In a coppiced wood, which is called a copse, young tree stems are repeatedly cut down to near ground level, known as a stool.

For those PAX on the trail I think we stumbled on ever stump, root, rock on the trail at some point.

Rather than limit the CSAUP to only the Shivering Whippets, we invited ruckers, bear crawlers, craw bearers, etc. So PAX would carry less gear, YHC provided H2O, fruit, and birthday cake (no takers / healthy crowd!).

ITG of 3/23 11 PAX turned out to get some laps in, have fun, and get better.

PAX – Carlton, McAfee, Catfish, Milton, Little Jerry (R), Dunphy, Grinder, Miagi, Mookie, Iceman (R), Abacus Q

PAX either walked or ran the trail and a great time was had by all. We learned Dunphy fell into freezing water on a past expedition on the trail, but he came back today to dominate the trail.

McAfee took a nasty spill that turned an ankle, please reach out to him to offer your support.

LJ and YHC completed 10 laps.

Until next time, it was a blast!
