Back Blast – The Tank @ Vets – 10/23/2019 – Jolly Ghost!

Vets truly is a great AO.  School makes it challenging for me to get out there as frequently as I’d like – so it’s always a treat when I can squeeze it into the morning.  And, for it to be Ghost Q week was something special.  I rolled into the parking lot of Jeffersonian to drop off my set list and then made my way back to Vets.  Was pleased to see a few cars already there and waiting – PK one of them, of course.  Others rolled in after as follows:

PAX:

  • Yoshi
  • Greenwich
  • PK
  • Wiki
  • Drysdale
  • Atlas
  • Handbook
  • Jolly Rancher (Q)

A minute or so before 0530, the PAX started to get a bit anxious trying to figure out who was the Ghost Q.  I played it cool and then finally at 0530 I let the cat out of the bag with an introduction and the standard disclaimer.

COP:

Going against my normal staples, I decided to delay the mosey and went straight into the COP at the Seal.  It included:

  • SSH
  • Runners Stretches
  • SSH
  • Imperial Squat Walkers
  • SSH
  • Toy Soliders
  • SSH

Then off for a mosey towards the coupon cache.  Vets is to my knowledge the only place that has pallets as coupons – of which, I have a love-hate relationship with.  So, I instructed half of the PAX to get a regular cinder block coupon and half to get a pallet coupon for The Thang.

The Thang:

We started on the flagpole side of the large parking lot at the baseball fields.  We paired up and the goal was to push the pallet with the cinder block taking a ride on top to the other side of the parking lot where some further exercises awaited us.  Then, push the pallet back.  Then, rinse and repeat with another exercise.  So here’s what went down:

  • Push pallet with cinder block up the hill parking lot.
    • PAX 1 = 25x Skull Crushers
    • PAX 2 = AMRAP Merkins until PAX 1 was complete.
    • Switcheroo.
  • Push pallet back down to the start – only to turn around and push it back up the hill for:
    • PAX 1 = 25x Groiners
    • PAX 2 = AMRAP Curls until PAX 1 was complete.
    • Switcheroo.
  • Push pallet back down to the start – only to turn around and push it back up the hill for:
    • PAX 1 = 25x Coupon Squats
    • PAX 2 = AMRAP Jump Lunges until PAX 1 was complete.
    • Switcheroo.
  • At this point, the PAX – including YHC – were getting pretty smoked.  Audible was called to just mosey down and back for:
    • PAX 1 = 25x Plank Jacks
    • PAX 2 = AMRAP Coupon Step-Ups / Jumps until PAX 1 was complete.
    • Switcheroo.
  • Mosey down and back for:
    • PAX 1 = 10x Halos
    • PAX 2 = AMRAP Curb Dips until PAX 1 was complete.
    • Switcheroo.

Once we made it one way through we started over – but continued with the mosey until the last round and we had no choice but to push the pallet + cinder block back to the starting point to return them to the cache.

The PAX quickly realized the pallets with the blue sides suck…a lot…a lot more than the ones without the blue sides.  Everything in life is a learning / teaching moment and this WO was just another example of that!

We then set off for a mosey back to the flags for some Mary, which included some of the regulars – Gas Pumps, LBCs, Flutter Kicks, etc.  Time was then called.

COT:

  • Count-a-rama.
  • Name-a-rama.
  • Announcements.
  • Intentions.

It was good to meet some of the new PAX that are making the Vets their home, including Yoshi who was my partner for The Thang.  He killed it as did the other PAX who decided against the fart sack this morning and instead elected to get better.

Jolly Rancher out!
