The conditions were perfect – it felt like the temperature was in the low sixties with low humidity. We lucked out and got topped off with a beautiful sunrise mid-workout.
The disclaimer was promptly given at 0530 and we moseyed around the school to the usual warm up spot. We circled up for a few minutes of stretching and prep work, including side straddle hops, imperial walkers, grass grabbers, downward dog, Kendra Newmans, and Michael Phelps.
Thang 1 – The 10 minute fitness assessment. We did 10 burpees on the minute, every minute, for 10 minutes. 100 burpees went down like butta. The sometimes overly chatty Mutt Pax were unusually quiet, but they put in the work, and knocked these out with little difficulty.
Thang 2 – We moseyed to the Prayer Garden, picked up the coupons, and lined up on the long end of parking lot by the portico. We completed 20 coupon curls at one end, 20 side straddle hops at the other end, and ran in between, and repeated this 3 times. We then continued the sequence but substituted 20 coupon bench presses and 20 Bobby Hurleys for the aforementioned exercises, and repeated this 3 times.
Thang 3 – We moseyed over to the Modified Mutt Mile, and at every light post, we tossed in merkins, jump squats, flutter kicks, LBCs, jump lunges, squats, regular lunges, and some other usual fan favorites, to finish out the run.
We returned our coupons to the Prayer Garden, we circled up for intentions, and we all touched Sump Pump’s new coupon for good luck. We sure are fortunate to have our health and to have each other. Stay hungry.
