Back Blast – Circuit Work at the Loco – 07/07/2020

As always, it was another great morning with the PAX at the County.  I arrived a little early to set up some of the LED flashing lights with the exercises at the various stations around campus.  I ran into Crock Pot as he was gathering some coupons for PAX that don’t yet have their own.  Great Site Q – always thinking of his people.

Made my way to the starting spot and the numbers just kept growing.  The flag count keeps growing, too, as we now are flying the Loco flag which is pretty cool to see alongside the regular County flag and the AO of the Year flag.

Time was called, disclaimers were provided, and we set off for a Capri Lap around the back parking lot because inevitably someone would be rolling in late.  Sure enough, it happened – but we’ll keep the PAX who needs to check his clock nameless.

COP:

We stayed at the back parking lot for some quick warm-up exercises, including:

  • SSH – 25x
  • Downward Dog + Runner’s Stretches
  • Grass Grabbers – 10x
  • Hillbillies – 11x [yep, you read that right]
  • Michael Phelps – OYO

As we were completing our Michael Phelps, we counted off – 19 PAX in total.  Then also counted off to form two teams for the Thang.

The Thang:

As the pre-blast said, the goal was a little circuit work.  My stations were set up around campus in the loose form of a figure 8.  The goal was that one group goes one way and the other goes the other way.  The map shows the circuit and the station work for one group – so just imagine going backwards for the other group.

County Map

For each of the stations we did just the first exercise and then the next lap did the second, etc. – except the Side Lot which was always SSHs and the Hill of Pain we just alternated between the two options each lap.  I think both groups made it through three laps.  And that was good enough!

As we gathered for the six around the flag, we planked for a brief moment and then completed 10x merkins…just because we can.

COT:

Count-a-rama, name-a-rama, announcements and intentions were completed.  A few highlights:

  • Crock Pot’s co-worker who suddenly passed over the holiday weekend – continue to lift up this man’s family and those around him.
  • July 18 – Convergence at The O!
  • July 24 – Monthly Ruck Event
  • July 25 – Likely the next Dare to Care opportunity – Jitterbug to post more details on Slack when finalized.
  • Captain Crunchberry and I are selling raffle tickets to support the WHAS Crusade for Children.  For a meager $5 you can earn a 1 in 500 chance to take home a firefighter edition rifle.  Just let us know if you want more details.
  • Lots of respect thrown around in COT with 7 of 19 PAX over the age of 50.  It was great to see.

That’s it…until next time!

Jolly Rancher out!
