Pelican volunteered pretty early on in the IPC discussions that he’d help host one at The County on Monday – primarily because this is the only day other than Friday where The County doesn’t have a scheduled WO [reminder: 2019 AO of the Year was The County].
We texted on Sunday when the IPC workout dropped and I told him I had the deets on Nino’s multi-stopwatch app and would bring my iPad so we can have one timer for everyone and everyone just stops their own timer when done.
Pelican’s task? Show up early and map out 1/4 mile lap.
It’s not that I don’t trust, Pelican [after all, he has FANTASTIC taste in music]. But, I love to be in control – which is why I Q so much to begin with. So, last night I went to Google Pedometer and tried to play around with a few circles to see what 1/4 mile lap would look like. I had a general idea – this way I could help Pelican on Monday morning to finalize it…or perhaps make a recommendation.
As we gathered in the parking lot, I saw a white SUV and was convinced it was Pelican – and perhaps he was just moseying around the lot trying to finalize the 1/4 mile lap. But, I soon realized that it was Low Balls’ car – not Pelican. MF-er. So we went with the 1/4 mile lap I had figured out and called it close enough.
Needless to say, we started a little late after this debacle.
- Holy Roller (R)
- Asian Zhing (R)
- Brown Tail (R)
- Low Balls
- Brown Water
- Jolly Rancher (Q)
We moved over to the large parking lot and WILDflower led us in a concise warmup just to get things moving. Included some SSH, downward dog, runners stretches, merkins, etc.
Then, I introduced the weinke for IPC Week 0 and instructions on the stopwatch. And we got to work, which included:
- 50x – Squats
- 40x – Big Boy Situps
- 30x – Merkins
- 20x – Bonny Blairs
- 10x – Burpees
- 1/4 mile lap
- Rinse and repeat the above list four times.
This workout was from the 2018 IPC. And, it still pushed people. We had some great times and everyone finished. What was most impressive is that although some early finishers, they still picked up the six. It was inspiring. Well done, PAX.
Ended with countarama, namearama, announcements and intentions. I ended with making sure the PAX know that the IPC is a fun competition. But, for me, I’m not trying to compete with the Top 10 of the IPC…instead, I’m competing against myself from yesterday. All we have to do in life is be better than we were yesterday. If you keep it up for a sustained period of time, imagine what you can do over a year – or a few years. Man, that’d be fun, huh?
I enjoyed this morning to kick Monday in the teeth with a hard workout among some great men.
Jolly Rancher out!
